Use Your Security Question
If you can't log into your Facebook account, you may have the option to get back into your account by answering your security question. Here's how:
- Click the Forgot your password? link on the Facebook homepage.
- Follow the steps on that page to identify your account. If you have access to any of the emails listed on your account, you can request that a new password be sent to these emails.
- If you don't have access to any of the email addresses linked to your account, click the No longer have access to these? link under the list of email addresses. Follow the directions provided to answer your security question and regain access to your account.
If you're trying to get back into your account and you can't answer your security question, you may have the option to get help from friends.
If you don't have access to the email address that's listed on your Facebook account, we also recommend contacting your email service provider for help:
Once you get back into your email account, you can request a new password for your Facebook account.
After you complete a security check, you'll have to wait 24 hours to log into your Facebook account. This waiting period is an extra security precaution we set up to protect your account and the information in it. We're sorry for any inconvenience.
During the 24-hour waiting period, your account will still be visible to your friends on Facebook but you won't be able to access it. We appreciate your patience with this security measure.
To find out when you'll be able to access your account again, use your new password to log into your account.
