Promoted Posts
Promoted posts are an easy way to get more people to see your posts. Promoted posts appear higher in News Feed, so there's a better chance your audience will see them. There are two ways to promote a post: from your personal account and from your Facebook Page.
Promoted Posts Basics
You can promote any post you share from your News Feed, profile or Page, including status updates, photos, videos, questions and offers.
Any post you promote will appear higher in News Feed to help more people see it.
Promoted posts must follow Facebook's Advertising Guidelines.
Yes. Promoting your post simply increases the likelihood that your audience will see your message in their News Feed.
Promoting Posts From Your Personal Account
- From your News Feed or timeline, click Promote below something you've posted.

- Add or choose a payment method.
- Click Promote.
You'll receive a notification with your receipt, and your post will be labeled Sponsored.

When you promote a post you’re making it easier to discover for the people in the post’s original audience. Promoting a post doesn’t change who can see it. Promoting moves the post higher in News Feed so the people you shared it with are likely to see it.
Note: If someone has hidden posts by you, they may not see your promoted post in News Feed.
Your post will start showing up higher in people's News Feeds as soon as you finish promoting it.
You can pay for a promoted post with the payment method linked to your Facebook account.
To see your purchase history which includes receipts for posts you've promoted:
:- Click
at the top right of any Facebook page and choose Account Settings - Click Payments in the left column
- Click View next to Purchase History
It's not currently possible to unpromote a post. If you promoted something by mistake or change your mind about wanting more people to see your post, delete it and post again without promoting it. To delete a post:
- Go to your timeline
- Find the post you want to delete and hover your mouse over it
- Click the pencil icon

- Select Delete
For most posts you promote, insights will be available about one day after you promote them. To view insights for a promoted post, you can view it from your timeline by going to it and clicking Sponsored:

See what percentage of your post's views happened because you promoted it:
- Regular Views shows the percentage of times someone saw your post organically
- Paid Views shows the percentage of times someone saw your post because you promoted it
Insights for posts you promote from your personal account do not show the raw number of people who saw your post. These statistics are currently only available for promoted Page posts.
Promoting Posts From Your Page
The best way to have your posts show up in News Feed for the people who like your Page is to post things you think your audience will like, comment on, or share with their friends. Use your Page Insights to learn more about the types of posts that your audience is most interested in.
You can also promote your posts, which means you’re simply increasing the chance you'll reach a larger number of people and, when they interact with your post, their friends. People trust recommendations from their friends, which means that this extended audience is more likely to be interested in your business when they see that a friend has liked, commented on or shared your post.
- Go to any post you've recently created on your Page timeline
- Click Promote at the bottom of your post

- Set your budget based on how many people you want to reach

- Click Save

- Go to your Page and tap Admin
- Go to the middle section of your Page and tap Timeline
- Tap Promote on the bottom right corner of the post you want to promote
- Decide on the amount you want to spend by the estimated reach of the post and tap Promote Post
When you promote a post from your Page, it will be shown in the News Feeds of more of the people who like your Page than you would reach normally. Additionally, your post will be shown to friends of people who like your Page.
If you’re a Page admin, you can promote recent posts directly from your Page timeline by going to the bottom of any post that’s been recently created and clicking on the Get More Reach button. Select a budget from the dropdown menu and click Promote Post.

Like ads and sponsored stories, promoted Page posts will be reviewed by our Facebook Ads Team and should generally start running soon after creation. Just like with posts you don’t promote, your posts will show up in the News Feeds of some of the people who like your Page right away.
Note: Once your Promoted post is live, it will run until it is no longer eligible to be shown in News Feed. It isn't possible to change the dates or times of a promoted post.
To unpromote a Page post:
- Go to your Page's timeline and find the post you're promoting
- At the bottom of the post, click Promoted for $x

- In the gear dropdown, click Stop Promotion

- After you click the link, your promotion will be updated and the button will say Promotion Paused

Just like with ads, you may be billed daily to your primary funding source in Ads Manager. You’ll only be charged for impressions on your post, which may sometimes be less than your budget. You can see your primary funding source and access invoices from the gear dropdown in the Promote button, or from your Ads Manager.
From the Promote button:
Go to the sharing tool at the top of your Page's timeline or to the bottom of a post that's been set up in the past 3 days.

Click Promote.

Click the gear dropdown.

- To see your primary funding source, click Funding Source below the Billing tab in the left sidebar. Learn how to change your primary card.
Shortly after promoting a Page post, you’ll be able to see its performance in the Ads Manager and from the bottom of the post in the link to the left of the Promote button.
To see information about the total number of unique people who saw your post, hover over or click on the x people saw this post link. We’ll show you a breakdown of your:

Managing Your Promoted Page Posts
Promoted Page posts can be created by the Page admin who manages them. The Page admin can also give another admin general user permissions on their ads account to create their own promoted Page posts.
When you give someone general user access to your ads account, you're giving them the ability to create, edit and delete ads and campaigns, view billing information, and access all reports.
Give people access to your advertising account from the Settings page of your Ads Manager.
- Go to Ads Manager.
- Click Settings in the left menu.
- Click Add User.
- Enter the name or email address of the person you want to give access. To add someone you'll either need to be friends on Facebook or enter the email address associated with their Facebook account.
- Choose the access level and click Add. The person you add will immediately be given the level of access you chose.
You can't edit a promoted Page post after the ad starts running.
To stop your promoted Page post and start a new one:
- Go to the post you want to stop promoting and click promoted for $x at the bottom of the post
- Click the
and select Stop Promotion - Go to the top of the promoted Page post and click

- Select Delete...
- Re-create the Page post with your edits and promote it
- Go to your Page timeline and find the post you're promoting.
At the bottom of the post, right below where people can leave a comment, click on the Promoted for $x button.

Click on the pencil icon next to Budget.

Click on the budget drop-down, and choose your new budget.

Click Save. Your new budget will go into effect immediately. The budget you set is a lifetime budget and not a daily budget.

You will only pay for the portion of your budget that was used to promote your Page post. If you pause a promotion or delete a promoted post, your promotion will no longer run and you will no longer be billed. If you decide to resume a paused promotion, you will continue to pay until you’ve used the total budget you originally set.
The reach you see when you promote your Page post is an estimate and may be affected by how many other promoted Page posts are running at that time. If there are more promoted Page posts running than estimated when you created your promoted Page post, the price goes up and the reach goes down. You will only be charged for the actual reach of your promotion.
Promoting a post that has been targeted to a specific location or language may also reduce your reach. The number of people you reach by promoting your post is in addition to the reach your post normally receives.
Your actual reach can be seen any time by going to the bottom of the post in the links to the left of the Promote button. To see more information about the total number of unique people who saw your post, hover over or click on the x total link.
You can only see information related to the promoted posts that are linked to your funding source. This means that if there are two admins for a Page and one admin runs a promotion, the other admin won't be able to see the information about that promoted post because it is linked to the first admin's funding source.
