Hideout Theatre A Thanksgiving week note of appreciation from Michael McGill, The Hideout's Cultural Liaison and Financial Advisor.

Hi! Mike here. I wanted to take a moment in this season of Thanksgiving to extend the Hideout Theatre’s appreciation to the improv community and the larger community of Austin.

Hideout Theatre
The Hideout is thrilled to announce that we're bringing Keith Johnstone to Austin in January for a series of workshops. Keith is the author of Impro: Improvisation and the Theatre, one of the founders of modern improvisation and a world-renowned teacher and improv guru. He's the inspiration for the kind of improv we ...do at the Hideout, and we cannot emphasize enough how unmissable a chance to work with him is.
The Four-Day Weekend Workshop
Friday, January 15 through Monday, January 18 students will work from 9am-3pm with Keith (including an hour lunch break) and then from 3pm-5pm with one of Austin's top teachers putting the work into practice. The cost is $385 before December 15 and $435 after.
Weeknight Workshops
Tuesday, January 19 and Wednesday, January 20 students will have the opportunity to spend an evening with Keith from 5pm-10:30pm (with a thirty-minute dinner break around 8pm). If you're interested in doing both Tuesday and Wednesday, we're encouraging Keith to cover different material on the two nights. Each evening is $95 before December 15 and $110 after.
The workshops are available online here:

The first rule of improv is “Build on it.” The 8 p.m. Sat. Waffle Fest show at the Hideout Theatre on Congress Ave. had patrons and actors doing just that. First, building your-own-best waffle — complete with toppings ranging from Nutelle® spread to M&Ms®. ...

Hideout Theatre As of a few minutes ago, if you're the Mayor of the Hideout on FourSquare, you have permanent "get your friend in free" status. Trey, the current mayor (seen below) has only been 10x, so he won't be that hard to beat.
