What is the funniest thing you have ever "overheard" while on Hilton Head Island? ... maybe an interesting conversation from the table next to you at dinner, etc.

My brother-in-law, Brian chatting with a hispanic worker about where the locals hang out. The worker looked confused... he thought Brian was saying loco's (meaning crazy folks in hispanic). lol

I realize this isnt HHI specifically but we are the Okatie Ale House and an older gentleman (and I mean he was about in his late 70's probably) asked the server what the "okatie ale" was and she said "bush light" and he said "in that case I will take two" ....

A friend of mine and I were at Harbour Town talking about the yachts. We were joking about one of them being P-Diddy's boat. Some kid overheard us and then told his dad that P-Diddy was in Hilton Head! What a way to start a rumor!

This blows all your stories out of the water and its true my friend from Ohio and seven guys were eating at Huddle House that use to be on the North End right at the corner of New Orleans road and we were all pretty drunk from the night before still but anyways my buddy Ryan says he hates grits and would never eat them and is making fun of my buddy

Quite a few years ago, there was a rumour floating around that Michael Jordan had purchased a house in Wexford. The day after I heard it, we were sitting on the beach at Sea Pines and someone said (yelled) that Michael was jogging along the beach. You should have seen the "sleeping" beachgoers jump up and run down the beach. He wasn't even there.

While I haven't heard anything tremendously stupid recently, I have SEEN so much! Gone are the days of watching people actually back up in the Sea Pines Traffic Circle.... but I've watched a father feed a small gator a pork chop from his hand while his family took photos- I was pretty sure they were going to have the most horrific photos of their lives!

We were waiting outside the Crazy Crab this summer for a table. The nicest family was sitting on the bench across from us. They did not know yet that Michael Jackson had died that evening until the Dad came back from the bar & told them MJ was dead. The mom said in the sweetest southern accent to her son, "Oh, you loved his song Purple Rain."

I was trying not to laugh, but her family lost it & we all enjoyed a good chuckle. They were so sweet. Later that night her son helped me with my 5 yr old when he puked all over the entrance o the Crazy Crab. I was mortified & he was so kind when many people turned & walked away from us. I wanted so badly to thank him, but he was gone when we came out of the bathroom.
