The drive-in movie is making a comeback in Hawaii, though on a reduced scale. The state plans to start holding outdoor movies at Aloha Stadium in February to supplement revenues for the property and promote swap meet shopping.

I used to love the drive-in in Pearl City! We used to pile so many people in the trunk and watch a double feature. Great times.

It’s a collision of New Year’s traditions here in the Islands, from good-luck food to speed-eating practices meant to predict the outcome of the upcoming year.

Good luck food - my family's New Year's tradition for prosperous new year is cabbage cooked with coins. You hope that your serving will have the most quarters:)

Black-eyed peas for luck. Greens for money. Pork for whatever reason - probably because it goes with peas and greens. Christmas tree must be down before midnight.

For any young, gutsy and artsy entrepreneur, Honolulu Chinatown is the place to start a business. Just ask any of a handful of entrepreneurs who set up shop in Chinatown's arts district this year, despite the recession.

June Jones' cell phone number begins with '808.' He owns two condos in Kähala and another in Kona. During football season, he watches KGMB's news show "Sunrise" on his office computer. He implores his staff to observe Aloha Friday each week.

Jase Brostrom, 7, was given the Hawaii Medal of Honor by Gov. Linda Lingle yesterday in honor of his father, 1st Lt. Jonathan Brostrom, who was killed in Afghanistan last year. Yesterday, the 7-year-old first-grader was presented another award that he said he will cherish for as long as he lives.
