HonorAir Knoxville
Over 60 years ago a remarkable generation of Americans joined forces to protect civilization in the largest war in world history. No amount of gratitude could ever repay the debt for the gift of democracy these veterans gave the world.

Samuel Hardman: Thanks Eddie for your thoughts in your guest column on Veterans in the Knoxville News Sentinel. It was GREAT. I am sure I am speaking for all my fellow World War 11 Vets when I say we certainly owe you a tremendous debt of gratutide for all that you have done for us. You are one true great American and I am truly blessed to have you as my friend.

Mr. Hardman, you owe us nothing. We, as Americans, owe a lot to all of you who served during WW II to secure our freedom. Thank you for a job well done!! The blessing is mine just being able to spend time with you.

Samuel Hardman I guess the greatest joy I experienced was to be at the airport to help send them off and the to be there to greet them on their return to Knoxville. The concorse was filled with family and friends and having the flags made it more patriotic. The good Lord has blessed me in so many ways and I hope to ne able to contrib...ute more as long as the flights continue. I would be remise not to mention the great help of Ms Dawn Ford. What a great Lady. Thank you again Eddie for using me. Fraternally, Sam Hardman

Samuel Hardman None of we Vets will ever forget the reception we received in Washington and the huge crowd to greet us on our return to Knoxville, with flags and the U T Band playing Rocky Top.Thanks to the Woodmen of the World Life Insurance And Fraternal Society for the flagsfor all the trips and for using me to help raise money fo...r future flights following my trip. Lots of the organizations that I contacted were very generous. I was happy to make the TV commercial, the talk radio shows and to be inthe newspaper ad.

Samuel Hardman When I got to go on the second flight in May of 2008 it was the experience of a lifetime as I never expected to be able to get to go.Then to top it off there was Sen Bob Dole at the entrance to greet us as we entered . I got to meet him and thank him him for all his efforts over the years. The trip was wonderful in ever...y way and to see the changing og the Guard at Arlington National Cemetery was awesome.

Samuel Hardman When I first heard of the Honor Air program to send WW2 Vets to Washington to see the memorial my first thoughts went back to a letter I have in my file dated Nov. 5, 1997 thanking me for a small donation I had made to help build the WW2 Memorial and that I was a Charter Member. Also a letter from Sen. Bob Dole stating... that he had agreed to be Chairman of the Committee to raise funds to build it..

GOD BLESS each and everyone who made this possible to our brave heroes. I pray for our military and hope they know just how much I appreciate their service to our country. My Dad served in the U. S. Army in WWII, my husband is a retired chief from the U. S. Coast Guard and served in Vietnam and our son is currently serving in the U. S. Air Force, having been on 3 missions overseas. GOD BLESS THE USA!
