Lost my iPhone to water damage (fly fishing) a few weeks ago. Missed iBird almost immediately, spotted several new birds I wasn't able to identify...though I did identify the Black Vultures and Yellow-rumped Warblers. (Missed a woodpecker of some kind and maybe a vireo?)
Just got my replacement phone in today. First app opened? iBird. :)
Re-favorited my identified birds; I'm up to 41. :D

Matthew Cringle I wonder if it would be possible to identify a bird by snapping a photo of it using the iphone's camera. Like other apps can take a picture of a book then give you the best prices available, and another app red laser can scan a barcode and give you the best prices online as well?

iBird is a true "gateway" product. Like many older users, I had never used the iTunes store before and had never purchased anything from then, in almost two years with my iPhone and many more years with my Macs. But after seeing this product in a birding magazine, it was a "must have" and, after seeing how easy and si...mple it was to buy online, I have now purchased additional apps, music and stuff from the iTunes store, that I had never done before. I also know at least two people who bought the iPhone just for this app (and a few more who say they're thinking about it).Read More

It is hard to wrap one’s mind just how much information and resource material is contained in this small little gizmo that is a fraction of the size and weight of an actual manual, and something you would be carrying with you anyway! And instead of fumbling through an index looking for birds or flipping through pages t...rying to find a match to something in the field, one can quickly search on numerous visual criteria, as well as even the song (!), and find something in a fraction of the time as even the best printed field guide!Read More

After seeing the ad for iBird in the inside front cover of December issue of Birdwatcher’s Digest, the only way to stop the drooling was to finally break through my resistance to shopping at iTunes and make my first iTunes store purchase. iBird Plus exceeded my expectations many times over, and is an app that I have used and enjoyed every day since.
I have since upgraded and have both iBird Plus and iBird PRO.

I have posted repeatedly in the WhatBird.com forums as "Doug in Escondido" and am so glad to see that there is an iBird Facebook fan page.
This is a great way to share with others about iBird!

Rebecca White Connors Any idea if/when an iBird release for Android would be available?

Megan Westervelt Pettebone Thanks for adding Hawaiian birds to iBird plus! Just a note, under Red Avadavat is a picture of the Red-crested cardinal instead.

Matthew Cringle Also I love the ibird pro for North America? I wonder if you may be or planning on working on an ibird app for Europe or some other region of the world?

Matthew Cringle I wonder if it is possible to identify bird songs like on shazam? Do you think that you'll be working on a feature like this in the coming future?

My number one feature request would be a log style feature where you could enter when and where you've spotted the bird... With one click using the gps and time from the phone.
I'd also like to see a set of likely birds based on my current location rather than the current manual statewide filtering.

Michael Ackley Do you have a time frame for the release date of the upgrade app from plus to pro?

Paul Hendler CaliforniaBirder..do not be sour, all you had to do is return my calls
