Idaho State University A local battle of the bands called Pokapalooza will be held Saturday Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. in the Pond Student Union Ballroom. The ISU Marketing Association is putting on the contest that features genres of music including alternative, punk and metal. The first 50 people through the door receive a free t-shirt.

Idaho State University ISU's GIS Center celebrated GIS Day with events such as a chili cook-off, trivia contest and raffle. The grand prize went to entry #11, Bryant Ralston with Ralston Ranch Chili.
Idaho State University On Tuesday, ISU-Meridian speech pathology students sold more than $200 worth of baked goods--enough money to pay for one corrective facial surgery on a child or adult living in a poverty-stricken country. Students were raising money for the International Children's Surgical Foundation, a charity whose plastic surgeons tackle difficult cases for free.

ISU hosted the Joint Intermountain Conference on the Environment, and Geotechnical Symposium on Nov. 5-6. The Conference was dedicated to the professional accomplishments of ISU Professor Dr. James Mahar. Also honored at the conference was ISU graduate student Verona Nicolae, and Century High School teacher Bruce Gi...vens received the Environmental Individual Acheivement Award and a written Commendation from Governor "Butch" Otter.
