CLARIFICATION:
Our campaign 35 YEARS IS MORE THAN ENOUGH is not aligned with any other campaign conducted by a political party, whether IDP or DRP, against the government's plan to extend tourist resort lease period to 50 years. Our campaign is an independent one, and we started this because we believe the government's ...plan will increase disparities in income distribution and make the rich richer and the poor poorer. We endorsed MDP and Mohamed Nasheed (Anni), as the presidential candidate, both in the first and second round of the presidential election.

http://idhikeeli.blogspot.com/2008/10/vote-for-democracy.html

The policies, principles and beliefs of IDP and DRP is very different from the principles and policies we support and advocate. We have to clarify this because certain elements in the society are trying to portray any campaign against extending resort lease period, as an IDP or DRP campaign.

35 YEARS IS MORE THAN ENOUGH
We have created a facebook group to promote our campaign '35 years is more than enough'. It is a campaign against the government's plan to extend the lease of resort islands to 50 years. If you are against this plan, which will further increase inequalities in the distribution of income and ...act as a barrier for new people to own wealth in the tourism industry, please join our campaign.

To promote the activities of Idhikeeli, we have also created a page at Facebook. If you support Idhikeeli, become a fan.

Everybody is busy with elections now. It comes as no surprise because this is the first election in the country with a chance of becoming freer than the ones held before.

That is one reason why we wanted to get in touch with you. You probably must have heard about a new initiative by the Elections Commission. It is call...ed Voter Registration. The Elections Commission has asked all voters who will be voting outside their registered island to register with the Commission in order to vote. The deadline for this is 25 September. This means there is not enough time for thousands of Maldivians to register. They might not be able to exercise their right to vote. So help speed up the process by asking your friends and relatives to register to vote. Please spread the word. More info and registration forms from www.elections.gov.mvRead More

In the night of September 19, 2003, at the young age of 19, Eavan Naseem, an inmate of Maafushi Jail in the Maldives, was brutally beaten to death by prison guards of NSS. His death caused riots in prison next day and NSS shot prisoners killing and wounding inmates. On September 20, Male' went into a riot and brought t...he birth of a pro-democracy movement.

To remember the death of Eavan Naseem, we are organising a vigil for the night of September 19 this year. People can sit on the seawall around Male' (thoshigandu) in Boduthakurufaanu Magu from 9 pm to 12 am. There is no specific point. You can sit on the seawall at a location close to your home or any area you prefer. This is a peaceful vigil. You can bring candles if you want. You can wear t-shirts bearing messages if you want. Check the event page and join. Raise your voice against torture.

Greetings on the occasion of Ramazan. This Ramazan the households in Maldives will face extreme difficulties because of soaring prices caused by years of economic mismanagement and recent budgetary failures. Our hearts are with families trying to make ends meet against all odds. Maldives is also bracing for a president...ial election while allegations of buying out voters by giving them money and other lucrative offers are rampant.

Don't sell your vote. Your vote is too precious to be sold for Rf500 or for the promise of a harbour for your island. The rich will try to buy you and your vote, but they will not care about you after they come to power.

Lets make this Ramazan a month for working hard for change, to lift ourselves from this miserable life, caused by 30 years of oppression. Please become fans of Maldives Votes, a movement of artists, writers and concerned people, to bring change.
