Immanuel Baptist Church " Our tendency is to be interested in something that is growing in the garden, not in the bare soil itself. But if we want to have a good harvest, the most important thing is to make the soil rich and cultivate it well." -Suzuki

I am happy for the daily lenten readings on http://www.d365.org/journeytothecross/
I especially liked today's reading from Mark where the friends of the paralyzed man have to dig through the roof of a house to lower his stretcher to Jesus. How we must dig through the layers of our own complex lives to find the healing ...of Jesus! And, sometimes, we are not able to do so - only loving friends can accomplish it.

Immanuel Baptist Church "As soon as you see something, you already start to intellectualize it. As soon as you intellectualize something, it is no longer what you saw." -Suzuki

Immanuel Baptist Church "There is a road from the eye to the heart that does not go through the intellect." -Gilbert K Chesterton

Immanuel Baptist Church "Stop judging by mere appearances and make a right judgement." -Jesus

Immanuel Baptist Church "Extend the boundaries of the glowing kingdom of your love, gradually including your family, your neighbors, your community, your country, all countries -- all living sentient creatures." -Paramahansa Yogananda

Immanuel Baptist Church "Do not take lightly small good deeds, Believing they can hardly help. For drops of water, one by one, In time can fill a giant pot." -Patrul Rinpoche

Richard Myers During Lent, Immanuel will host a letter writing opportunity each Sunday regarding the pesticide Nemagon sponsored by the Baptist Peace Fellowship. You can learn more about it and join the cause on fb WE PROTEST POISON is the site.

Richard Myers It was a wonderful Valentine's Day in Church today. Thank you to Jacob and Julia for a wonderful valentine for Rachel and me!

Rachel McGuire Church news update: Many of you know that Cynthia had surgery last week (hysterectomy). She is at home and recovering very well. It won't surprise you that she is already doing "stomach crunches" to keep in shape which got her in a little trouble in her followup visit today -- but a good sign of her determination an...d resilliance. She welcomes cards, calls, and prayers.
