Here lies Tanjung Puting National Park, a remote area that can only be reached by klotok (river boat) along the Sekonyer River from Kumai. Within the park is Camp Leakey, established in 1971 by Dr Biruté Galdikas. It is home to both wild and rehabilitated Orang Utans.
