Tourism Vancouver 10 ways to weather the weather; or, how to keep your chin up when it’s coming down

Source: insidevancouver.ca
It never rains in Vancouver except for maybe in November. And a bit in December and January. Well, and February too, but hey–you don’t have to shovel it!

Jools Staddon Hi, I've been told that I MUST take my family to a hockey game when we're out in Dec. Ticket prices seem pretty steep for Canuck games, I'd appreciate any advise on best value for buying tickets.

You can get tickets in the upper bowl for not too too much, and that's the best way to get to see the Canucks. You could also see the Vancouver Giants, which is a lot more affordable. Good luck!

Hi Karen! There is plenty to do for families in Vancouver. It won't be too-too cold, perhaps around 0 degrees, although it may be wet (or snowy) - but that doesn't deter Vancouverites from celebrating both indoors and out! There are usually celebrations downtown, at Canada Place and in various pedestrian corridors like Granville Mall. These include... Read More family-friendly areas, as well as more mixed areas with beer gardens. There are also plenty of restaurants that have fun events for New Years, and various hotels as well. It is a bit early for all the details, but visit http://www.tourismvancouver.com closer to the date (or the blog, http://www.insidevancouver.ca and there will be more information. As for what's closed on New Years Day, it is a holiday, so most banks and things like that will be closed - but most restaurants and major attractions will stay open. Hope this helps!

Tina Parkhurst

Tina Parkhurst I'm interviewing for a job in Vancouver. A bit nervous since it would be such a big move but also a bit excited. I'd love to hear what people love most and least about living there!

Good luck with the job interview! What I love the most: the views, the mountains, the ocean, the restaurants, the people, the festivals, the day trips... What I love the least? It does rain in the winter. Though, right now looking out at a sunny downtown and beautiful autumnal leaves, it's easy to forget about that!

Thanks Rosie. I'm so excited about coming to Canada. Where are the gay areas? Also, I want to do Vancouver, Montreal, and Toronto within 11 days and I'm trying to find the best way to do that. I hear that Vancouver is 2500 miles away from Toronto and Montreal. I like House Music.....and techno music.....where can I go????

Gay areas would include the West End (Davie Village) which is primarily men, and Commercial Drive, which is more women. If you're trying to do all three cities in 11 days, you will have to fly (at least between Vancouver and Toronto - it's a 5+ hour flight!). House music - try Celebrities (one of Vancouver's best Gay clubs, and great music), or the Lotus in Gastown.
