So fun to hear all of your traditions! Thanks so much for sharing them. I celebrate St. Lucia Day (yesterday) and invite friends over for Glogg--love that one. On my girls dresses up as St. Lucia and wakes the kids with cookies in bed. Louisa was the one this year-She loved it!

Thanks, yes, 4am--actually, Justin will be here at 3:45am--scary, I agree Deanna! It does force me to get a jump on baking some pies, though. :)

It's aways tricky in my house since my hubby is a confirmed vegetarian. So if i want turkey, we need to go to family or friends, otherwise I'm making acorn squash soup and corn fritters!

Thank You, Sarah - The Woman Who Saved Thanksgiving by Laurie Halse Anderson illustrated by Matt Faulkner - Love this story!  The heroine is a mom who was brave, bold, stubborn, smart, and she saved Thanksgiving—how’s that for a role model?!  Check it out on Amazon.com  Thanksgiving at the Tapple...
Melinda Case Knight

Melinda Case Knight We've gotten into a habit of having our two year old sleep in our bed. What is the best way to get him back in his room?

Hi Melinda! First off, you little one sure knows how much you love and care for him-good for you! As moms, I believe we have a job to create an environment that is "Happy, Healthy, Safe and Cozy." With this job description in mind, approach your little one like this. "Momma has a job and that is to keep you happy, healthy, safe and cozy and it's so... See More healthy to have a great nights' rest-you grow when you sleep, and so does momma. So starting tonight, the healthiest place for you to sleep is your very own bed. Your child can choose the music each night, or alternate with a sibling. Pretty soon, they'll look forward to this routine and where they sleep will become less of an issue. You need to "sell" the dream of how cozy their bed is, and the fun of picking out music. Be sure to kiss, and let her/him know to "make it a great sleep--See you in the morning!"

Another thought Melinda is to create a fun and cozy evening routine. One that marks for your two year old that it's time for bed. We have a little song that we sing "Bath, brush, books and bed." We follow that nightly with few exceptions. Your child can choose the music each night, or alternate with a sibling. Pretty soon, they'll look forward to this routine and where they sleep will become less of an issue. You need to "sell" the dream of how cozy their bed is, and the fun of picking out music. Be sure to kiss, and let her/him know to "make it a great sleep--See you in the morning!" Hope that helps! Make it a great weekend!

inspiring Moms TGIF! We're wrapping up a productive week at inspiring Moms and just about ready for the bus to drop off the kids and their friends for "Play Date Friday". It's our one day of the week when our kids are able to bring home a friend. Anderson helped me bake the cookies and I think we'll serve them with milk and smoothi...es. Make it a great weekend!
