  • Is anyone out there still pushing new Crystal Reports initiatives for enterprise reporting? I am finishing managing a CR project and can't wait to put it back on the shelf for good!

      • Ryan Goodman CR for connectivity is fantastic, but poor visualization, html support, and other issues I encountered this week has me wondering if this is a tool that new customers are looking at as the future for their reporting initiatives?

      • Dallas Marks Is Crystal's fate not dependent on its feature set but instead on paper? Even SAP has corporate sustainability initiatives to reduce paper use.

      • Brian Aldrich Crystal always seemed like a leftover of the "have those reports on my desk Monday morning" era to me.

      • Kevin McManus For Non-Enterprise initiatives its in the top 3 options for reports that need to go to PDF from a wide variety of data sources. For Enterprise its feature set seems maxed out, however its query wizard and conditional formatting is only recently being rivaled. With all the OEM tools and thousands of business users many are still using it for enterprise because they "know the tool" and it just works

It is a mature product for sure, but having focused on trying to build a legitimate report output with formatted text, some HTML, and charts with PDF output, it was a significantly bigger headache than I ever imagined to get there. The coo...l thing about CR as you mention, is it connects to everything and is fairly easy to do so which is why it works so well. Most people these days that I talk to are not jazzed about Crystal Reports which is a shame because all it needs is a little love on the front end design. It is kind of like Xcelsius where you need a bunch of tricks of the trade to build slick functionality.See More
