I can't seem to get off 2 email lists at work - Center for Moral Clarity and Christian Family Coalition, both of which try to tell everyone how to vote on things like this. On the good side, at least I know what nonsense they are going on about. Two organizations to watch out for in my opinion.

If you'd have told me that I'd be a fan of a minister from Monroe... Well, that was my prejudice at work, I'll admit.

This Supreme Court case will diminish Freedom of Religion in the United States of America if those who would establish Christianity as a state religion win. For information about actual Freedom of Religion, see my comment about the approved headstone emblems for Arlington National Cemetery. We must not let one religion crush the rights of all others as it has done so many times during world history.

Walter Cronkite became "the most trusted man in America" because he held as sacred his commitment to journalism that rigorously distinguished professional objectivity from personal opinion.

Speaking truth to power is a conversation we are each capable of having with any & all those in positions of authority secular and or faith based. Cronkite was not afraid to champion the 4th branch of our Constitution--- A Free Press. You can best honor his legacy if you Question everything and arrive at your own reasoned conclusions... while ... Read Morerespecting the rights of others to differ and also question YOU. Ultimately it takes each citizen being engaged, vigilant and informed to advance our democracy and promote transformation of our planet through tolerance, peace and respect for all life.

Rev. Dr. C. Welton Gaddy, today released the following letter he authored to both Senator Barack Obama and Senator John McCain encouraging both candidates to treat all Americans, including Muslims, equally and to fully engage them and other religious minorities in the political process.

To the Obama campaign, we issue t...his challenge: The next time someone asks if you are Muslim, don’t just say no and recite your Christian bona fides. Ask them why it matters. We’ve seen already that some of your opponents will try to use your family religious history against you. Rise above that, and use the moment to teach someone why calling you a Muslim isn’t correct, but it certainly isn’t a slur.

To the McCain campaign, a slightly different but no less important challenge: Don’t ignore the Muslim community because you assume they’ll vote the other way. Every citizen should hear clear, strong messages from all political parties in order to make an educated decision in the voting booth.

Rev. Dr. C. Welton Gaddy, President of Interfaith Alliance issued the following statement today in response to Dunkin Donuts discontinuing an online ad featuring Rachel Ray wearing a kiffiyeh.

"Enough already. Have we really reached the point where we are associating wearing a scarf of Middle Eastern origin with terrori...st sympathies? Should we apply this standard to everything that comes from the Middle East? Or are we only applying this standard to our wardrobe? If that is the case I would like to suggest that we stop wearing sweaters with hoods so as not to expose any sympathies for the unabomber.

I just returned from a week in the Middle East where I took part in the World Economic Forum. I can tell you that serious issues continue to widen the divide between the Muslim world and the west. We simply must repair that divide. We can not allow misguided pundits to trivialize the situation like this. It gives new meaning to the term “wardrobe malfunction.”
