We are pleased to announce that Tim, Jim, and Larry will be taking part in this year’s Manchester Versus Cancer concert, which will take place on 12 December at the Manchester Evening News Arena, and promises to be a very special evening.
The annual event, now in its fourth year, aims to raise money for cancer patients ......in the region, with The Christie in Manchester (http://www.christie.nhs.uk/) being one of its beneficiaries, in addition to local hospices and support groups.
Other acts already confirmed for this year’s concert include Andy Rourke (of The Smiths, and founder of Versus Cancer), and Peter Hook (New Order); many more will be announced over the course of the next month.
This year looks set to be especially memorable, as the artists will be collaborating with the world renowned BBC Philharmonic Orchestra to perform a special one-off set. Tim, Jim, and Larry will be working closely with critically acclaimed composer Joe Duddell on special arrangements of some of their songs.
The band had this to say, "We can’t wait to get started on the arrangements and to work with such an amazing orchestra. The night looks set to be something that neither we, nor our fans will forget, and it’s great to be involved with such an important cause.”
Larry added, "We will be doing about 30 minutes with the 24-piece Orchestra, and will be performing arrangements of some of our back catalogue and possibly a cover version. We may also be joined by one or two Manc music legends on a couple. It's too early in the process yet to be more specific, but needless to say it will be something very special and unique."
Tickets for the concert are on sale now, priced from £32.50 to £40, and are available from Ticketline, See Tickets, and Ticketmaster.

Larry Gott will be jumping out of a plane with a Red Devil strapped to his back on Thursday the 1st of October in a bid to raise at least £2500 for Disability Snowsport UK.
He is funding the jump himself in order to allow all the money raised to go direct to the charity. You c......an help him meet or surpass his target by visiting http://www.justgiving.com/larrygott.
He's asked for the following message to be passed along to the fans:
"Hello you lovely lot,
The new tracks are coming along nicely and we are all beavering away in our respective workstations.
I personally will be sneaking off for a day because on the 1st oct im going to be leaping out of a plane strapped to a Red Devil and hoping to raise some money for Disability Snowsport UK whilst im at it (http://www.disabilitysnowsport.org.uk/).
I know its short notice but Im standing in for someone who has pulled out and i would like to ask you all for your help in achieving my target in this short period.
It would be lovely if you left a message along with any donation ( large or small :-) ) on http://www.justgiving.com/larrygott, then i can name check you personally when i post my thanks afterwards.
Why the hell am i doing this?
Well I've always wanted to skydive and now the opportunity has arisen for me to raise money for an amazing cause as well as tick off another 'bucket list' entry. Fear not dear friends, your generosity will ALL go to the charity as im funding the cost of the jump myself.
So why this charity?
The other day i had the honour of meeting some of the UK paralympic ski team and their stories were both fascinating and inspiring. One comment above all stuck in my mind :
"the first time i went up the mountain on the chairlift, I looked back at the wheelchair I had left behind and realised that i was leaving my disability behind with it. Skiing restores my freedom, independence and most of all, my ABILITY!"
I know i take my mobility for granted and i know what a shock it would be to have it taken from me. The magic of snowsports lies in its ability to restore mobility to those who have lost it, and grant it to those who have never experienced it.
Those of you who have enjoyed the thrill of snowsports can, im sure, imagine how the slopes enable a wheelchair user for example, to experience an amazing freedom and sense of grace absent in their normal lives.
I only have 2 weeks before the jump, so if you can, please visit http://www.justgiving.com/larrygott, and click on donate. It doesn't matter how small the donation, every little bit helps. And if you fancy letting friends and family who might be interested know about this then i would be extremely grateful.
Cheers.
larry"

UPDATE, 2 Oct. Another message from the man himself:
"I did it!!!
What a fekkin amazing day that was!!
Clear blue skies over the Nottinghamshire countryside. I was sat in a tiny, rickety plane with a tall but affable Red Devil called Andy firmly attached to my back and the main refrain from The Who's 'i can see for miles' swirling around my head.
At 13,000 ft the flimsy door opened and the first of our group, Sophie, my lovely flame haired step-daughter, rapidly and surrealy disappeared from view, I was next and suddenly EVERY instinct in my body was screaming at me to 'stay the hell away from that hole'!! . . I had to fight the urge to resist Andy who was pushing me towards it. Looking down from that tiny ledge with my feet dangling in mid air was one of the weirdest feelings I have ever experienced. Everything slowed and I went totally limp, Andy pulled my head up and we were off.
My vision melted like one of those 'everything turns to liquid' cinema effects for a second until the rush of air hit me and I felt more alive than at any other point in my life. I was screaming and swearing at the top of my lungs. The exhilaration was intoxicating and over in a flash as the parachute opened, slowing us to a graceful effortless pace.
As we banked right and then left in a spiral it was everything I imagined pure flight to be, ever since reading the descriptions of it in 'Johnathon Livingston Seagull' as an impressionable but idealistic youth. My maiden flight ended quickly, though not as quickly as the ground travelling towards me as we came in to land.
What a thrill!! An unforgettable day made all the more worthwhile knowing that the proceeds of it will enable so many other people to experience a feeling of grace, freedom and ABILITY absent in their normally disabled lives. Whether disabled from birth, or from tragedy, they will all now benefit from the help you have given.
Thank you all, every single one of you!
