My wife, myself and 3 friends just completed the San Antonio full marathon this past Sunday. It was our first ever marathon of any kind and we followed your book page by page. You are the man! We completed the entire marathon and finished strong at that.
We were lucky enough to have been injury free throughout the tr...aining, which we started in January, thanks to your program. Thank you, Thank you...we are fans for life!Read More

Brenda Colon Vogel

Brenda Colon Vogel My girlfriends and I are planning on doing the Nashville Country Music 1/2 Marathon Course on April 24, 2010. We all live in Nashville and do have some great trails that we walk/run regularly, but want to prepare for the 1/2 marathon the best way possible! It is the 1st marathon for most of us. Which one of your books would you recommend for us to use?

Kimberly Mays

Kimberly Mays After thirteen weeks of training for the Richmond Suntrust Half Marathon, I was sidelined by a stress fracture. This is my third stress fracture in two years (two in my right leg, one in my left) and I am feeling very disheartened. I don't want to quit, but my 44 year old body is full of self doubt right now.

I discovered Jeff Galloway recently while recovering from my first stress fracture. I am a fairly new runner, not even a full year yet, and I know I pushed myself too hard too fast. I am also in my forties and felt very discouraged like you. But I am excited about Jeff's training plan and am planning on sticking with it, even though it will be hard! I am signed up for my first marathon at the end of May, so we will see how it goes. Good luck with your healing and take heart.

Wow! That's a lot of stress fractures. You didn't say if you are using walk breaks, how long your run intervals are or how many days you are running... I hope you are better soon.

Melissa Spurio Simon

Melissa Spurio Simon I'm 34 and started runniing in July. I couldn't even run 1/2 mile without stopping and being totally out of breath. Now i'm up to running 5 miles without stopping and I'm hooked. I'm having such a tough time "walking" during a race..how can I get my mind to shift to this way of racing? I feel like I'm failing if I start walking? Help!

Henry Witz Ran the Ricmond Half yesterday. Used a 9:1 run:walk. Was hoping for any time under 2:10 and managed 1:59. Beat my time of the Virginia Beach Rock n Roll two months ago by 18 minutes. One happy camper !!! AND I feel good today, ready to get going again.

I start my walk breaks straight away after the first 9 minutes. I try run the first mile around 8:30 to be able to keep my pace around 9:00 to get under 2 hours. I felt so good that I ran the last 3 miles without walking. I literally was sprinting the last 1/4 mile to the finish line ..

Wow! I can't believe I get to write on your wall! I trained for a marthon a year and a half ago. I followed your training schedule and rain 20 miles with total ease! Wasn't even sore the next day. I never got one injury thanks to you! I am now using your training shedule for the half marthon that I hope to do in Feb. W...ish me l...uck. I try to stick to the 12 minute mile pace with walking and running. I use it now religiously even when just running for fun! Thanks Mr. Galloway!Read MoreRead More

Kate, I missed 2 long runs 6 weeks before the Richmond marathon and was so discouraged that I had gotten so far "behind" where i was supposed to be that i almost threw in the towel.I missed 10 days of training. You still have lots of time to "catch up" before feb. Just use your Galloway method walk breaks and you will be fine. My last long run 2 ... Read Moreweeks before marathon was not that great but I ended up finishing my first marathon feeling strong and so happy! I ran it using Galloway method, in 4.50 which I was happy with considering a month before I had serious doubts I could even finish. Don't get discouraged! You can get back on track and it is so worth it. Just make sure you do Galloway from the start. You will pass sooo many people later on. Have fun! Elizabeth

I ran the Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco last month using the walk/run technique. I was doing this one for myself(ie not helping someone finish their first one). I had a PR 30 min faster than any of my other 4. I think it really does help mentally to know when to start running again & to know that there is a... point when you can walk. I plan to continue training for other marathons/races the same way.Read More
