Company Overview:

Each year, in communities across the country, dynamic, passionate candidates engage in a spirited competition to earn The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's "Man & Woman of the Year" titles, by raising funds for blood cancer research. The candidates compete in honor of children who are local blood cancer survivors, the Boy & Girl of the Year. Mission:

Many of you know that in May of 2006, we lost a dear friend, Sasha Blackford - at the young age of 30 - to Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

Although it has been over 3 years since she her person left us, I like to think that her spirit has been carried on through all of us that knew her - or know her from our stories. As my own way of honoring my friendship with Sasha, I have continued to volunteer with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, her charity of choice.

Sasha taught me many things in the time I knew her. Zest for life. Humor. Compassion. Kindness. Humility. No matter what she was battling on any particular day, or how much she hurt, she insisted on hearing about my life before she shared any of her news. She always put other people first. SO much, in fact, that at her funeral her mother had a present from Sasha...for me. As she was dying, there she was...thinking of others. To this day, that gift is something I look at every single day. I am truly a better person because I got to be her friend. I have been blessed.

In unity with Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, I am working towards a day when cancer - especially blood cancer - will just be something we talk about, like, the flu. Not something that makes our loved ones deathly ill.

I hope you will join me in my fundraising quest as part of the 2009 Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Man & Woman of the Year campaign.

Believe me when I say that every little bit helps.

Thank you for all of your support!

Best,
Jenn
