With him as a mentor, I’ve been blessed to learn that it ain’t all about the money and the fame. That’s some little tike wish shit. It’s about giving and receiving and recognizing that these actions are one in the same. All that bank and attention is a portion of the fruits, but them joints gon expire and sour. S’not why I do this.


I’d be fibbing if I acted naïve about the way this whole thing works, now. As old man Mutsengagani said, “You can lose a lot of money chasing women, but you can’t lose a lot of women chasing money.” That’s the law of the land. But I’m not from the land. I’m from the Creator, and that Great Spirit told me there’s a greater purpose involved for each one of us. Inshallah, this music help you find it.


I’ll never forget the day that Nick and I were posted in my ‘93 Nissan Pathfinder. This was a couple years back when I was quite the head, so I gripped my dutch and he gripped his honeycomb pipe as we leant back in the seats. It was one of them nights when the stars be out, and you be so full of wonder and shit. It just be wonderful, so deep that you get a sense of what enlightenment is really about. I rememba we was looking at the big dipper upside down through the smoke. Santa was like, “Yo, that’s what it is, rasta. The big dipper is just steadily pouring upside down tonight. That’s how we perceive it, but in reality, that ting not upside down at all. It’s right side up at the same time.” And just at that moment when he said that, we saw a shooting star. We was real present that night and Santa called it, he said, “ Chief, on some real shit, I just aspire to give everybody presence.”


I guess that’s what I’m about, too. I just want to share the marvels of this world with y’all. Tell the stories of the good and bad. Sometimes the things I see make me scream and I look around wondering whether I’m the only one that saw. I know I’m not, but I just scream to make sure Chukwu knows I’m grateful for the vision.
