This President does little but seek political shelter for himself and the repubs. If you say white he says black and then asks "who doesn't support black?" just to dare anyone to take a stand or grow a spine. He is repugnant! The only good thing about this SOTU was when the announcer said "Pres. Bush's last State of the Union>" I think the ... Read Morenation took a breath and exhaled for the first time in 7 years. Whe
President Edwards is giving the SOTU, taking a breath will feel like freedom and exhaling will be to shake off the state of fear that the Bush's tried to impose on us. Sen. Edwards you've got it all and are the real stuff. Keep going....we are with you!

I love Bush. Wish he could run a third term :(

Nik at 4:32am January 30, 2008
the political game that this has become has ruined politics. so much is said with so little done now. it has become, who can say what people want to hear at that moment, and then forget about it later on as new issues become more important. Bush was the worst i've seen in my brief political following life by lying over and over again to the people. i just hope the next president will actually commit to the words that got him/her elected and get things done. but i have my doubts....

did the baby choose to be born? no.
just because i'm pro life doesn't mean i'm automatically put into some conservative category. i'm for universal health care and definitely education, although i don't think raising taxes is necessary. we'd do just fine with edwards' plan of getting rid of the tax cuts for the rich and using that money to pay for the plan, which is going to cost over $70 billion, instead of taxing more toward the middle and lower classes, which wouldn't help them at all and completely contradicts with your statement of education. how can these people pay for college if they have to pay more taxes?
and since when is bringing a baby into a poverty level a crime? there are billions of families well below the poverty line all over the world, does that make them criminals? ... Read More

you keep contradicting yourself, jason.
first of all, you did say we need to pay more for taxes: "and are unwilling to pay more in taxes to support education reform." that is what you said. not only is it completely off topic but unnecessary. we don't need to pay more taxes, we're paying enough and i'm sure you'll at least agree with that.
secondly, you contradict yourself again when you say ""murdering" a fetus is not the crime". if murdering a fetus is not the crime, then why does it suddenly become one when a gun is involved? they both have the same outcome: whoever is growing inside the woman dies. so what's the difference? ... the moment a weapon is brought into the picture, the law suddenly changes. but, in my opinion, anything used to harm the health or safety of another individual should be considered a weapon, should it not?
therefor the "tools" they use in the "operation" of "terminating a fetus" aren't really tools at all, but weapons.

It's an election. Not an auction. I noticed the correlation between money and votes in New Hampshire the most. It almost correlates perfectly, not with what the candidates spent, but the total money they had raised. Unfortunately, as Kos and Jerome Armstrong have pointed out, is that money still drives elections, but it's the kind and amount of donors that can and should make a difference. This is where JRE is superior. We need more people to donate!

It's unbelievable that no one in the mainstream media reported this. Go get em', John!

Senator Edwards: "We honor the incredible life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr. King was a man of peace, a man of principle and a man of profound conscience. "As someone who grew up in the segregated South, I have seen firsthand the change we have achieved thanks to Dr...

Hillary Clinton lobbed at John Edwards that she didn't think his plan was universal and that to her it was not. He never got to respond, I'd like to know his response!

Health Plan is what I was talking about. Why am I the only one here...?
Dick at 7:52pm January 21, 2008
Great job Sen. Edwards you scored big points tonight and it was good to see you take Sen. Obama to task about his voting "present" on legislation. That is a big issue, maybe not to the average Americans, but it shows he will do what is politically expediant.

I applaud you for your response to Senator Clinton and Senator Obama's bickering over who said what and when, when you made the commment "...and how many children are going to get healthcare because of this?"

Thank you! On behalf of John and Elizabeth Edwards and our entire campaign, I want to thank everyone who made a contribution on Friday, January 18th. In particular, I want to thank all those from the netroots community for rallying to our side at a time when we need it most...

Danette at 6:38pm January 19, 2008
There was a big push on Daily Kos to make Friday a fundraising model and that's why I contributed that day in particular, though I've been contributing all along.

I would just like to know why Edwards is not coming to Mich. I understand the party had fighting between the state and the national party, but with all of his talk about the middle class and unions it seems like a state that he cannot afford to give up.
