Nearly 60,000 books prized by historians, writers and genealogists, many too old and fragile to be safely handled, have been digitally scanned as part of the first mass book digitization project of the U.S. Library of Congress. The materials are free on the LOC and Internet Archive Web sites.

A survey by Pew Research Center finds that all 25 nations surveyed considered global warming a serious problem, and majorities in 15 of them rated it “very serious.” The Pew Center’s data also reveals that viewpoints did not necessarily split along the developed-developing nation.
