Melissa Hamilton

Melissa Hamilton Wow, and I thought I couldn't get any more homesick for California. I was wrong. Thanks so much for posting the Sierra Nevada photos. California is heartbreakingly beautiful, isn't it? I have your soaps and sachets, so my house may look like a house in the Deep South, but it smells like California, and that is a very good thing!

After a long day of visiting stores, I pulled into a cozy cabin-style hotel in the Santa Cruz Mountains to spend the night. As luck would have it, they were busy trimming their California Bay trees! So I did what any normal wildcrafting-soapmaking-hippie-entreprenuer would do, I loaded it into the back of the family v...an. I drive my wife crazy whenever I do this kind of thing, but what am I supposed to do? It's the easiest wildcrafting in the world, the boughs are already pruned and on the ground, all I need to do is pick them up. Yes the van is a little bit dirty and has taken on a bit of terrarium-like atmosphere with all the leftover leaves, little green crawlies and spider webs, but think of all the great Bay Laurel soap I'll make with this!Read More

Juniper Ridge
The holiday season is always a challenging time of year here at Juniper Ridge, so I was so thrilled to escape to the Sierra this past weekend for a much needed mini-vacation. Me, my wife and our little girl stayed in a cozy cabin, played poker with our friends at night, trick-or-treated in spooky victorian-goldrush-era... Downieville, spent an afternoon catching frogs and I spent a glorious day hiking by myself and lake-hopping my way through the Sierra Buttes lake basin - check out the pics here. Now I'm relaxed, rejuvinated and ready to take on the busy holiday season - bring it!

Evelyn I bought some Juniper Ridge products for my store in Winnipeg, Canada and I can't stop smelling the White Sage soap. I am so glad to have found a company that knows the difference between real white sage and artemisia.

Making products that smell just like the real thing is what we do! I love backpacking and hiking and am always trying to make goodies that smell just the real thing. oh and don't get me started about salvia vs. artemesia, that's one of my favorite rants! true sages are in the mint family, artemesia is in the sunflower family, they're completely ...
