A reporter again misses the mark. My joint resolution, HJR Z, nullifies ANY new law that forces participation in a health care system. It targets mainly Michigan gov't, not the federal gov't (Tenth Amendment already covers that). Unfortunately, Prof. Friedman was not given a copy of HJR Z, because he would have recogni...zed that it is markedly different from other proposals, including the one introduced by Sen. Now that the U.S. House of Representatives has passed its version of the enormously controversial healthcare reform bill, the debate on universal healthcare is set to heat up even more as the bill comes to the Senate, where it will be significantly harder for the Democrats to squeak out a victory. ....

Another blow to liberty. Under this line of reasoning, I suppose the government may search and seize without reason, so long as they eventually find reason. You can read the entire opinion here...

Justin Amash Take a look at today's vote tallies. Does the Michigan Legislature look partisan to you? The real problem with state government is not partisanship but rather non-deliberation and unanimity.

Justin Amash The House stands adjourned until Thursday at noon.

Justin Amash just voted yes on HB 5246, which provides greater protections from civil liability for funeral directors who properly dispose of cremated remains that go unclaimed for at least six months. It passed 100-0.

Justin Amash just voted no on SB 776, which transfers money from the Juror Compensation Reimbursement Fund to the General Fund. Although I oppose the concept of restricted funds, I believe that money already placed in a restricted fund should not be diverted. The bill passed 92-8.
