Justin Amash Naturally, we've had a floor vote this term EXPANDING the state's power to seize and dispose of your property without a conviction. Only three reps voted no. You can view the roll call vote here: http://michiganvotes.org/RollCall.aspx?ID=419977.

Are Metro Detroit police officers law enforcers or revenue gatherers? A Detroit News series that begins today notes that police have dramatically stepped up their seizures of citizens' assets under the state's forfeiture laws -- often without obtaining a criminal conviction. ...

A reporter again misses the mark. My joint resolution, HJR Z, nullifies ANY new law that forces participation in a health care system. It targets mainly Michigan gov't, not the federal gov't (Tenth Amendment already covers that). Unfortunately, Prof. Friedman was not given a copy of HJR Z, because he would have recogni...zed that it is markedly different from other proposals, including the one introduced by Sen. Kuipers.Read More

Now that the U.S. House of Representatives has passed its version of the enormously controversial healthcare reform bill, the debate on universal healthcare is set to heat up even more as the bill comes to the Senate, where it will be significantly harder for the Democrats to squeak out a victory. ....

Another blow to liberty. Under this line of reasoning, I suppose the government may search and seize without reason, so long as they eventually find reason. You can read the entire opinion here...

California has had this law in place for over twenty years-when you get a license you MUST consent to comply with all blood tests upon request of the officer. In addition to that, the back of your license has a strip that stores all of your personal convictions, etc. SO your card is run through a computer when you cash a check, etc.

Justin Amash Pres. Obama apparently misses the irony in his citing the unfairness of forcing people to subsidize others.

Source: blogs.abcnews.com
During an exclusive interview with ABC News’ Jake Tapper today, President Obama said that penalties are appropriate for people who try to “free ride” the health care system but stopped short of endorsing the threat of jail time for those who refuse to pay a fine for not having insurance. ...

Hope my soon to be skyrocketing "gotta pay more city tax in the form of a public safety millage in order to protect myself, the kids and the little woman, in spite of general fund dollars allocated for these basic necessities" doesn't get discriminated against. Why don't we do something more useful with that money, like fund some orphanages, food lines for the unemployed, start a fund to support the empeachment of Obama, ext. Anything could be more useful then what they are doing with it, even burning it would ranks a smidge above, but only on the moral pretext of not letting those greedy F***s have it. Justin Amash Take a look at today's vote tallies. Does the Michigan Legislature look partisan to you? The real problem with state government is not partisanship but rather non-deliberation and unanimity.
