Living overseas, I usually have to improvise on the specific brand suggestions, but hunting for good substitutes only makes supermarket shopping more exciting. Thanks for the consistently awesome food inspiration : )

Hi Kerri, thanks for the nice feedback! Good to hear that you can find ingredients that will work. I try hard not to use too many specialty ingredients for the blog (which is hard for me, because I love to buy special condiments and spices!)

I use the printer-friendly recipes to copy and import them into my MasterCook software. That way I can search ingredients and find something to cook when I need inspiration.

Watching our parents' decline is a terrible thing!! I saw your dad in the hall a couple of weeks ago and he gave me a nice greeting but I could see that he was struggling mightily. I know he's always been extremely competent and busy, as was my mother.
The care is SO much better in the Cottage -- 1:6 ratio instead of 1:19 -- we wish we'd moved her sooner. The aides are spread pretty thin upstairs (we never could get them to take Mom to and from the dining room, reliably, so she'd wander the building for hours, lost, and getting into 'trouble')

I look forward to having a meal with you! We might have trouble getting away from my husband though -- food is his MAIN interest in life (luckily he's thin!) and whenever he's in BTFL with me he asks when "We're" going to 'get together with Kalyn'. :) (He's rarely there with me though.)

Syima, I would freeze after cooking, then thaw in the fridge and reheat in the microwave. If you don't have a microwave, reheat in a covered dish, with a tsp or two of water in the bottom. I have a big upright freezer, and love to cook big batches of things and freeze them!
