Hayley Bennett Hey, I just signed up for Keystone. I am a sophomore this year. I have gone to public school my whole life. I was lucky enough that keystone took all my Freshman credits from public school. I am currently working on the Making the most of your keystone experince. I am glad this is a course to help me out.

Joy Pedersen

Joy Pedersen We are considering homeschool for our son. He is a junior on a block scheduled program and will complete 3 credits at semester. What is your policy on transfering credits into your school and how many total credits are required for graduation?

Hi Joy, we are happy to do a transcript/homeschool portfolio evaluation at no cost. That would tell you what your son still needs to complete. 21 credits are required for our diploma, and at least five (one in each core subject area plus an elective) need to be completed with Keystone. You can read the complete policy at http://keystonehighschool.com/programs/diploma_program.php.

The Keystone School Keystone Middle School students were asked to send us logo designs for the new Art Club. Students were to create a logo/mascot that incorporated the school mascot, the Coyote. Check out the great submissions!

Hi Jennifer, it is definitely possible to sign up for individual courses to cover credits that your son still needs. To earn a Keystone diploma, though, he would need to complete one course in each subject area (five total) through Keystone. If he doesn't have five credits left, he can still take an English course and with our transcript, transfer that credit to another school or program. Does that help? Let us know if you have any more questions!

Sarah, I would be interested to hear more about how this year has improved for you. What tips do you have for other students so that they get the most out of the Keystone experience? Gary Myers, Provost

Sarah
Well, I can give you tips for the general SCHOOL experience. My new feelings this year probably aren't Keystone-specific. One of them is that the classes I'm taking are interdisciplinary by nature. When you study calculus or biology or American literature (English 3), there is no crossover. I'm taking AP World History, AP Statistics, Creative ... Read MoreWriting, AP Economics, and Contemporary World Studies this year (as well as AP Biology). Those classes are not only interdisciplinary, they relate to one another. What I'm learning in AP Economics directly translates into Contemporary World Issues, and I'm taking that knowledge with me into AP World History. This year, it's like I'm not taking a series of fragmented classes. Instead, they relate to one another and to even other subject areas.
