Brian I got some rabbit ears to receive CBS and FOX. ABC comes in perfectly, but I can't even find CBS or FOX. Am I doing something wrong?

David Wow 5:00 news KGAN has a story about the SINCLAIR/Mediacom dispute....However WHY DO YOU AT KGAN TELL YOUR VIEWERS THAT MEDIACOM IS TAKING YOUR CHANNEL OFF THE AIR??? WHY THIS FALSE NEWS??? It's SINCLAIR that won't let Mediacom air your station because they won't pay your outrageous prices!!! Why not tell the truth and... not mislead your viewers??? KGAN stated that about 15,000 people dropped Mediacom last time this happened but how many people stopped watching KGAN??? With lies, false, and misleading news stories no wonder you are the third best station in eastern IOWA! Try improving your product if its not to late!! Remember it is SINCLAIR that is FORCING Mediacom to take your channels off the air. GET IT RIGHT!!

For all the energy you put into hating KGAN and saying how bad they suck, it sure sounds like you watch them all the time and never miss a newscast. :-) Also, Mediacom isn't so great, they have some of worst customer service and rates among cable companies in the United States. As far as I'm concerned, both Sinclair (not KGAN) and Mediacom are ... See Moreboth corporate greedy giants who in the end will come to an agreement at the surprisingly 11th hour prior to the Orange Bowl or Super Bowl. I'm glad I have DirecTV and the excellent service that I've gotten anyway for 11+ years.

Never once have I said KGAN sucks!! And as far as Mediacom beeing greedy.. how do you come up with that..thye don't want to pay more money and have to raise rates for their customers..How is that being greedy?? And as far as the energy I spend.. is only trying to get the latest updates.I also watch KCRG and KWWL. And as far as Direct TV that is not... See More an option where I live and the only cable company here is Mediacom! And by the way I missed all of KGAN's news today is case you were wondering? Doug, maybe you and me can be friends on FB and I can keep you up to date on what channels I'm watching. You must spend alot of energy and time reading what I have to write everyday!!!

David Two local news stations(not KGAN) and two local news papers have had stories on the SINCLAIR greed story and again I ask how can this be good for KGAN??? And all SINCLAIR AND KGAN put out is adds stating that Mediacom is going to stop airing this station...Is that really what is going on?? Isnt that close to false adve...rtising??? I belive its SINCLAIR that won't allow Mediacom to air its stations?? Not the other way around.I also read a story about a local sports bar that has Mediacom and isn't real sure how they can show the Orange bowl to its loyal Hawkeye fans. Just one more local company that will probably never buy advertising with KGAN. And KGAN says they are stuck in the middle of this also.. I say BS!! Stick up for your fellow Iowans and let SINCLAIR know how we all feel!!

David Revenues from retransmission consent agreements were $28.0 million in the third quarter 2009 as compared to $17.9 million in the third quarter 2008. Local advertising revenues were down 13.9% in the third quarter 2009 while national advertising revenues were down 26.7% versus the third quarter 2008. This info I got fro......m the SINCLAIR web site. It looks to me like there already have an increase of $10.1 MILLION dollars over last year with retransmission fees and they now want more! But it also looks like advertising is down. Maybe they should focus their energy on trying to increase sales instead of putting a strangle hold on its own customers!!!!!

I believe that some further analysis of their 3rd quarter financials will answer your question. Even with a gain of $10 million of retransmission revenues in '09, their total broadcast revenues are down $74 million through Sept., a total decline of 15.6% They would love to sell more advertising if they could, but with a soft ad market and crappy ... See Moreratings ( at least in CR), they can't. In order to sustain revenue, they need to develop and grow alternative revenue streams such as retransmission fees just to pay the bills. This situation isn't unique to Sinclair, all broadcasting companies are struggling with this. And no, I'm not a Sinclair apologist. I abhor their business practices and lack of acting in the public interest (remember Mark Hyman?)

Rebecca Briggs

Rebecca Briggs I am so glad that we finally got a chance to see Ms. Halloran's true colors (and it was not merely the informal interview, her comments at the council meeting were very telling.) It appears there were valid reasons for her not to seek re-election, which had more to do with her administration than other issues. I find i...t very interesting that she continues to be in the denial of the true condition of our city that she has maintained since the threat of the flood. I look forward to the administration of a new mayor, and hope this one will be both strong and effective.

David My mother along with 100+ people living at a retirement community in Marion will lose KGAN all together unless they all go out and buy rabbit ears and converter boxes(which is not an option on fixed incomes) as they have Mediacom there and do not have any other options such as a dish. And talking with her, she and othe...rs there have been life long Hawkeye fans and will not be able to see the Orange Bowl. And this is just one example of how this will effect people in Iowa.Again I ask is this all worth losing viewers???Does SINCLAIR look at the long term effect this will have in eastern IOWA???AND what does KGAN have to say about all this????? I will do my best to give these people the facts about SINCLAIR.

Thomas Edgar Does anyone else find it funny that KCRG and KWWL haven't had similar disputes? What else is funny is if you look at the Fans of KCRG they have over 5000. KGAN doesn't have 500. They are trying to cut down Mediacom but they are looking like the idiots. Makes me laugh. KGAN....Built for Breaking the Bank.

David Sally Masnon President of the U of I asked SINCLAIR to leave programming on long enough so that Hawkeye fans could enjoy the Orange Bowl and again SINCLAIR said NO! This story was put out on one of the other fine local news stations. Wouldn't it make sense to keep your viewers happy even for a few more weeks. Or will ...all the money you are asking for make up for all the lost customers and viewers in IOWA. How can any local company want to advertise with a company that has no interest in its viewers???

David

David Dear Sinclair Management,

I understand that you are in a dispute with Mediacom over how much they should pay for your channels. Your demand for more than a 50% increase over your current rate is outrageous. You must not be watching your own newscasts. Unemployment is high, salaries are frozen and many of your viewers...... are wondering if they will have a job next month. How can you justify that large an increase? Simply because the government protects broadcasters from competition, doesn’t give you the right to take advantage of your monopoly power to gouge Mediacom and their customers. I ask you to reconsider your approach of depriving me and your other viewers of your channels while you negotiate.

David SINCLAIR made national headlines in April 2004 when its stations that were affiliated with the ABC network refused to air a "Nightline" broadcast featuring then-anchor Ted Koppel reading the names of U.S. service members who had died in Iraq.
