When it signed on the air in 1949, KPHO-TV became the first television station to broadcast in the Phoenix metro area. It became the local affiliate for all four networks in operation at the time -- CBS, NBC, ABC and the Dumont Network -- and since those days, the station has carried all but the Fox affiliation, even becoming independent for a short period of the time.
KPHO-TV now proudly carries the CBS affiliation and offers five hours of local news programming every weekday, including the only local 6:30 p.m. newscast in the Valley.
