Unusual tasks are part of my daily work as an intern in Hamburg.
This evening, I have to take pictures of a certain type of product in a supermarket. Although this is a fairly standard procedure, I have never had to do it so far! It actually sounds quite exciting, since I am essentially turning into an undercover report...er for a few hours. Indeed, supermarkets generally don’t like it when people take pictures. One of my fellow interns has already been on many such missions in the past, so she showed me how to hold the camera so that they don’t spot me for a while. And when they do, I will play the foreign card!
Another unexpected job was conducting a survey last month. I was a little worried about speaking in German to random people on the street, but I think my accent may have turned to my advantage! Indeed, most people kindly agreed to answer my questions, although there was the occasional chuckle when I said something completely wrong or with a very French/English accent...Read More

My first days as an intern at the Hamburg office contrasted starkly with my expectations of “the working life”: Landor’s induction programme principally consists in watching short videos on the intranet, Landornet! "The importance of being Walter” is an ongoing leitmotiv here, and these films were no exc...eption. Before moving on to Landor’s work today, they all introduced the firm's founder, the Klamath boat (the original HQ) and the legendary parties held there in the 60s! Admittedly, a large part of my interest also arose from watching these on my sleek new MacBook.
I then concentrated my energy on learning to use Powerpoint, as the “idiot-proof” template forbade me from making my ignorance public - although I did once ask about animations since the star-shaped icon had provided me with no clue as to its function...
I am now making the most of my exciting stay aboard the Landor ship, which is anything but a lulling cruise.Read More
