Lootas (meaning Wave Eater ), a 15-metre war canoe carved from a single cedar log in 1986 by renowned Haida artist Bill Reid along with several Haida carvers, will be the alternative mode of transportation used in Skidegate located near Graham Island in the archipelago.

A strong SE wind has restricted us to fishing along the Graham Island shoreline today, but guests have been finding salmon in most of these areas. Chanal Reef, Bruin Bay and Boulder Point have all been productive on the ebb tide...

We’ve been enjoying a terrific season so far, and fishing continued to be very productive for all species this week. Both chinook and coho salmon have been found in abundance all around the island, and some very large halibut were brought in from the west side of Langara. ...
