L'Chaim Canine One of the main reasons dogs bark is boredom. If your dogs constant barking is driving you nuts, then it is time to figure out why.

L'Chaim Canine It is easy to keep the training process going. If you spend 2-3 minutes with your dog a couple of times a day is all you need to reinforce any behavior. Cooking dinner? Ask your dog for a "sit", "down", and a "stay". Do the same just before giving your dog her meal, or before heading out the door for a walk. A couple o...f minutes a couple of times a day is all you need to reinforce your dog's good behavior.

L'Chaim Canine It is so important to continue to reinforce what you have taught your dog. If you do not reinforce these behaviors, eventually the dog will no longer offer them. So many times I hear from people that "my dog you used to be so well behaved/trained and now they act is if they have never been trained". This happens because we no longer work with our dogs.

L'Chaim Canine Worked with a lovely family and their bulldog puppy. The big problem was the interaction between puppy and kids. Taught them how to click and treat. By the end of the session they were redirecting puppy away from the Christmas tree with a simple "come" click and treat! Why I love positive training? You can create a pos...itive relationship where their was an adversarial one and it is a win, win for both dog and kids!

L'Chaim Canine This is a great one that comes from the crew at Wolf Park. Instead of throwing out those pizza boxes or putting them directly into the recycle bin turn them into enrichment toys. Stuff them full of newspaper with treats tucked in throughout and then then close up the box and let your furry friends have fun opening the box and finding the treats inside!

I'd use brown paper lunch bags, small cardboard boxes, put dry treats, chewies, or even a special toy. Then wrap it up with string and tape so he'd really have to work at it. For safety, I knew my dog & he didn't eat string or the packaging, so I knew it was ok for him. He loved them!

Great ideas! I do have to caution that I would never recommend using string as if it is swallowed it could cause a lot damage to the intestinal tract that would require expensive surgery.
