Since reading your first book, I have used that knowledge in the inner city to begin to understand, and help others understand the cultural intelligence that we lack when we go, even as close as our own city. I can't wait to pick up your new book to continue my quest on understanding and help others learn as well.

I have found Dave's philosophy to be an amazing tool in preparing groups for international travel. Simple wisdom gained from years of first hand experience, then well communicated.

Leading with Cultural Intelligence Benign statements like "I'm colorblind" or "I see everyone the same" aren't very helpful. Cultural intelligence starts with being honest with yourself. RT @AMACOMbooks

Leading with Cultural Intelligence Words can't express my gratitude for the many friends and guests who showed up last night. This book was a collaborative effort of people scattered across the world. It was a joy to celebrate it's release with some of our favorite people who live nearby--a few of whom are pictured in this album.

Leading with Cultural Intelligence I lay in bed awake at night not wanting to become one of *those* shameless, self-promoting authors. Yet I'm desperately compelled by some ideas I truly believe can make the world a better place. I'm inspired and challenged by best-selling author Don Miller's confessions. Forgive me for the times I've crossed the line here...

If writing a book about writing a movie about a book you once wrote about yourself isn’t the ultimate act of narcissism then doing a 65-city book tour promoting said book must be.I’ve never been more tired of any human being than I am of myself these last few weeks. ...

Leading with Cultural Intelligence China continues to invest in emerging economies like Liberia. Should U.S. firms follow suit?

Source: news.bbc.co.uk
China is often criticised for taking from Africa but giving little back. Not so in Liberia, where Chinese officials are moving into quite new territory - language lessons.

Excellent question ~ in fact, I debated with myself at length in my journal last night about this very thing! In this tiny space I can only say that I believe that pure language can be taught as a foreign language (i.e. English in a non-English speaking country) without teaching philosophy which usually accompanies that language. (i.e. English - ... Read Moredemocracy, Christianity) They can be separated, and, I think, should be unless specific invitation is given to do otherwise. (i.e. - student asks the teacher more about the culture, or the employing agency requests cultural tutoring along with language education) From your article and a couple others (i.e. requesting addtl’ Nigerian oil shares…), I am judging China’s intention is to smooth relations with west Africa for economic purposes. China’s reputation to this point appears to be business first and people way, way down the list. If the US was doing the same thing, it would be viewed by the world as linguistic colonization. Much more on the subject but hope this snippet helps some to explain. I’m still processing these thoughts and am open to debate!

Thanks for these rich reflections my friend. At one level, this is an unfair comparison but your same concern about teaching English purely for business purposes relates to my concern for those who do it solely as a "front" for proselytizing. (I know--Pasquale has a great deal to say here)!
