Louisiana French is completely different from the French people speak in France and is more of a Creole or Cajun dialect. Plus, no one from Louisiana I know speaks French except for a couple sayings or words here and there. Plus, she said her friend was from Monptellier, not Louisiana or Sanata Ana.

Having lived in Southern Louisiana many years ago, this is quite true. There was an attempt to revive French, but I don't know if it succeeded or not. I doubt it.

I would translate se denuder as "to bare". For example the sentence above I would translate as "Summer's here, young women's shoulders are bare" or "...young women are baring their shoulders". Se deshabiller is more "to undress"

French argot (slang) can be difficult to understand, but it’s really quite fun. So, today, we’ll talk about some expressions involving food that don’t have so much to do with food really, but might be useful to know...


adverb. Example sentence:Ils recherchent du personnel pour travailler pendant la saison estivale.Translation:They are looking to hire staff to work during the summer.

One of the first mistakes I, just like most beginning French learners whose native tongue is English, made is to say ‘Je suis chaud‘ (can be quite vulgar depending on who says it and in which situation) when I mean to say ‘J’ai chaud‘ (I’m hot as in temperature)...

Punctuation is sometimes different in the French language. I first came across this when reading Albert Camus’ La Chute in my literature class at the Sorbonne back when I was a student in Paris. I found it so bizarre to see the direct speech noted in the sentence «Voulez-vous d’une vie propre...
