London Symphony Orchestra LSO St Luke's Academy all week, recording film soundtracks, concert at St Paul's, tour, Prom. Yep, the season's over and the summer break is (not) here!

London Symphony Orchestra Final concert of the season tonight! Daniel Harding and Frank Peter Zimmermann doing the honours.

Verneda Lights P Diddy is live streamin his White Party today. I would love to see LSO leverage technology so that fans in other countries can enjoy your live performances. Low overhead through Twitter: check it out: http://www.Ustream.tv/channel/ptwittytv

Hi Verneda, thanks for all the really useful postings over the weekend. They'll be checked out. The YouTube vid of Friday's performance is nearly ready, just adding logos etc! Probably up by the end of today. Re films, live streams etc, we're looking into it to do some things like this next season, but we are quite short on funds to make it happen... Any interested sponsors or funders out there?
Verneda at 7:53am July 6
I understand the need to save. You can accomplish your goal on the cheap. Try Upstream tv, It is free and allows you to have real time streaming videos of your performances. Fans will be able to see you wherever you are, and simultaneously communicate via Facebook entries. This is how P Diddy and Ashton Kutchner did the "White Party" (to fight ... Read Moreagainst malaria) over 4th of July weekend. Here is the link http://www.ustream.tv/disc overy/live/all
Perhaps a film student (or school) would be willing to man the cameras, script on the fly, and edit for later use. This would be an excellent project for some MFA candidate's research project or thesis.

Meanwhile I will put out feelers for someone who is willing an able to underwrite this project. Its beginning to look like I have a proposal to write. To whom (at LSO) would I present the proposal. I have started looking for funding sources.

London Symphony Orchestra A rather windy outdoor performance over, now off to Abbey Road to record some music for a film - 7 hours of recording! Another packed day.
Verneda at 1:29pm July 3
Get the right director interested in the film project, and the producer will come. I will ask contacts in the industry to see if there is someone they recommend. There is a photographer named Kevin Mazur (did lots of work for U2 and recently, Michael Jackson), who would be a good person to contact by post or email. He may have some interesting inside tips if you are within 6 degrees of him. May I put my hat in the ring for script writing, or graphic design?
Verneda at 1:31pm July 3
I will definitely check out the Classic Rock album, and will keep my eye peeled for the video uploads here. I can see it now.. vid clips of LSO dancing bigger than life, on electronic billboard(s) in Times Square!

London Symphony Orchestra After rehearsal this morning, five of us are going down to Liverpool Street Station to play from 1.30pm for 30 mins on one of the Street Pianos. Come and see us if you're on your lunch break in the area!
Carolyn at 8:38am July 3
Yep,,,they light up our world and give the whole town a different feel....can't wait...
London Symphony Orchestra at 12:31pm July 3
Mmm, Arizona... now there's a thought. Did a couple of places in California in March, San Diego and San Francisco, then over to the East Coast, so missed most of the middle bits!

London Symphony Orchestra Beginning our season-long celebration of James MacMillan's 50th birthday tonight when he conducts the LSO Chamber Ensemble and Nicola Benedetti. Happy birthday Jimmy! (even if it's not your actual birthday for a couple of weeks!)

London Symphony Orchestra July already! Racing towards the end of the season and the beginning of the summer festivals. Rehearsing today for tomorrow's City of London Festival gig with Nicola Benedetti and James MacMillan at LSO St Luke's.
London Symphony Orchestra at 3:36am July 1
She played two - Ravel (G major) and Prokofiev No 2. I think everyone concurs she has made a great London debut.
London Symphony Orchestra at 3:02pm July 1
Ah yes, the hornist wins... No 3 it was!

London Symphony Orchestra Anyone going to be near Liverpool Street Station this Friday (3 July)? Catch five LSO players in a free gig on one of the Street Pianos from 1.30pm. Half an hour only!

The pianos can be played by anyone at any time, but you can use the form at the bottom of this page to promote your own event. Even if you have posted an event, please wait until the piano is free, to play. Remember, the pianos are only in place until 13th July !

London Symphony Orchestra On our way back to London for the last concert with MTT and Yuja Wang. Let's hope the plane isn't delayed...

Petr Macháně i can´t forget the moment i hear them for the first time like small boy from the czech republic alone in London :D !!! Love you and love john williams.. my biggest wish is to meet him, but i am student and have no money for plane and else.. :D
London Symphony Orchestra at 2:02am June 30
Hi Petr, it was great to have you in London back in April!

London Symphony Orchestra Last concert in Granada tonight before back to London. Just about got used to the 10.30pm starts to concerts!
London Symphony Orchestra at 1:59am June 30
Hi Martin, hmm, think we played at the Tenerife Festival a couple of years ago. Need an invite to return!
Hi Eulogio, absolutely, Spain is a very happy place. The UK has a heatwave at the moment and we could all take on the Siesta culture!

Julius Bannister Always the top band - I see someone took a classic rock recording we did at Abbey Rd of jacko and has added his own footage. fun!!
London Symphony Orchestra at 2:05am June 29
Hiya Julius, is that on YouTube? Gotta link?

London Symphony Orchestra Off to Granada (Spain, not the set of Corrie) for the weekend, two concerts with MTT and Yuja Wang, then back to London for more of same!
Verneda at 4:37pm June 26
Safe Journey. Maybe the day will come when webcasts of live concerts are de rigeur. It's something that I would truly appreciate.
London Symphony Orchestra at 2:04am June 29
Thanks Ted, glad you enjoyed it. We had great fun trying to translate that strange stuff at the beginning of the Villa-Lobos - until a Portuguese colleague pointed out it was made up!
Verneda - stay tuned... we're working on something a little like that...

London Symphony Orchestra Checking on whether the LSO ever backed any Michael Jackson records. Seems not, only covered Thriller on the 1985 album The Power of Classic Rock, arranged by Andrew Pryce Jackman. Nevertheless, RIP Jacko. Today's music scene wouldn't look the way it does without his influence.
London Symphony Orchestra at 10:24am June 26
No comment there Steve! :-0
Verneda - there's an old album out there of MJ covers by the "London Symphonic Orchestra". Probably a pick-up band, possibly containing LSO musicians, but not officially LSO.

Mary Wright gawd, I'm an e-groupie... Was there on sunday for the Mozart/Brahms/50th Concert - really wonderful playing and conducting. Most of the concerts I'm involved in are with a small baroque orchestra so felt really naughty to be watching something with 8 double basses!
London Symphony Orchestra at 2:25am June 24
Ha, love being your guilty pleasure! Eight double basses AND heavy brass. Yeah!

London Symphony Orchestra Crossing our fingers that the satellite link-up to the Sage Gateshead works OK later! So many young singers counting on it...

London Symphony Orchestra is celebrating the first year of LSO On Track, a scheme for bringing live music to east London schools and music services, with a special concert tonight.
