There is no better pizza than Louis's. They set the standards for real pizza. Buddy's and Shields are Corporate companies that pale in comparison, considering they tried to copy Louis's. Too bad he would never frannchise or even open a second store.
You want the best...gotta go to Hazel Park!

Susan I grew up on Loui's pizza. Lived about 2 blocks from the restaurant. I loved the chicken soup!!! Still do. Would like to eat there on a regular basis, except that now I live on the opposite corner of oakland county. As the saying goes You don't know what you got untill you move away from it. Ha Ha

I used to eat Loui's Pizza before there was a Loui's Pizza!!! I was really young, but I think Loui used to be the cook for either "buddy's or shield's" and he would come out and talk to my family because we ate there for all our special occasions....WE loved "his" pizzas, and then he went off on his own and created his... own Loui's Pizza restaurant! Which you are all now fans of! Sorry if I got my history wrong...it was back in the 70's and I was really little! But I have such fond memories of sitting in the back room at a long table with my family eating his pizza with a pitcher of rootbeer :)

Krista I moved to Chicago last summer and didn't realize how hard it was gonna be to find a pizza like Loui's. FYI if anybody wants to know what the best ROUND pizza is it is just up the road at 15 and Dequindre, It's called Tony's!
