Working this past year under the moniker Pictures And Sound, Luke Reynolds is a Grammy nominated songwriter, multi instrumentalist + environmentalist who works with an eclectic variety of vintage + analog instruments in regular collaborations with members of Gotan Project, Beck, Sebastien Tellier and Guster.
The body of work that made up Pictures And Sound, took Reynolds nearly three years to write and was produced by Jacquire King (Tom Waits, Modest Mouse, Norah Jones, Kings Of Leon).
The album was recorded by King in the winter and early spring of 2008 in Nashville and was cut to 2" tape with Pete McNeal (Sebastien Tellier, Cake, Ricki Lee Jones) on drums and Dave Wilder (Macy Gray, Liz Phair) on bass. Also featured, was the legendary Willie Nelson on a guest duet "Every War", a song Reynolds wrote specifically for Mr. Nelson.
Prior to Pictures And Sound, Reynolds also fronted the band Blue Merle, an acoustic driven five piece ensemble based out of Nashville, TN which released it's well-received album and smash hit, "Burning In The Sun" on Island records in 2005.
In 2006 he recorded a collection of bare bones tracks, many of which would later end up on Pictures And Sound, named "The Space Between The Lines (ep)" recently re-released online.
He has also toured as a band member with Brett Dennen, Philippe Solal (Gotan Project) and Tim O'Brien and has recorded with such notables as Sam Bush, Bela Fleck, Chris Thile and Abby Washburn.
He now resides in Los Angeles and is currently collaborating on a host of projects all slated for release in 2010.
He can't wait to build a cabin with bookshelves in Ripton Vermont.
