Magasin 3 has closed for the season. We open again on
January 23 with a new exhibition by the Brazilian artist Maria
Nepomuceno whose sculptures spread across and inhabit the exhibition
space like vegetation. On February 5 Magasin 3 is proud to present Tom
Friedman’s first solo exhibition in Scandinavia. In this comprehen...sive
exhibition we will be presenting key works that summarise Friedman’s
production to the present day. In case you missed Sol LeWitt's wall
drawings last season there is still a chance this spring. The
exhibition is on view until June 6 and the artist will be the theme of

Filmen "The Syrian Bride" utspelar sig i den drusiska byn Majdal Shams där det förbereds för ett bröllop. Det rådande politiska läget i regionen gör att den blivande bruden aldrig mer kommer att kunna återvända till sin hemby på de ockuperade Golanhöjderna då hon korsat gränsen till Syrien för att förenas med sin bliva...nde man. Filmen utvecklas till en tragikomisk och mångbottnad berättelse som visar hur politik, traditioner och historia ständigt formar människors verklighet i Mellanöstern. Liksom rösterna i Smadar Dreyfus verk "Mother’s Day" ropar man i filmen till varandra över gränsen i ett försök att hålla samman de splittrade familjerna.

Anne Karpf föreläser under titeln "Bellowed Endearments and Echoes of Resistance: How the Voice Bonds and Unbinds in Smadar Dreyfus's Mother's Day" om röstens betydelse i Smadar Dreyfus' verk "Mother's day".
I Dreyfus fängslande installation vägrar rösten att bli låst i en definition. På samma gång ytterst personlig och... resolut kollektiv, en markör av intimitet och en plats för motstånd i de ropade utbytena mellan mödrar och barn. Anonyma röster, osynkroniserade ordväxlingar: Dreyfus formar dem till ett uttrycksfullt verk i gränslandet mellan separation och närhet, mellan tystnaden och det uttalade.
Anne Karpf är brittisk författare och sociolog. Hennes böcker inkluderar familjebiografin ”The War After Living: Living with the Holocaust” (Faber Finds) och ”The Human Voice: The Story of a Remarkable Talent” (Bloomsbury). Hon skriver om samhälle och kultur i dagstidningen The Guardian, bidrar regelbundet till BBC’s sändningar och är medredaktör till ”A Time to Speak Out: Israel, Zionism and Jewish Identity” (Verso). Hon undervisar på London Metropolitan University.

Anne Karpf is a writer and sociologist. Her books include the family memoir 'The War After: Living with the Holocaust' (Faber Finds) and 'The Human Voice: The Story of a Remarkable Talent' (Bloomsbury). She writes on social and cultural affairs for The Guardian, broadcasts regularly for the BBC, and is co-editor of 'A Time to Speak Out: Israel, Zionism and Jewish identity' (Verso). She teaches at London Metropolitan University.
