Nicola

Nicola Any suggestions of what to do with empty glass jars would be much appreciated (various sizes from large pasta sauce jars to small paste jars).

Ideas already are - decorated tea light holders, decorated storage jars, make candles, gifts (when decotated and filled with sweets, chocs or bath salts etc) and snow scenes for xmas.

Thank you.

totally agree with the jams etc. can never get enought...but the tea light holders are really good as well. They look lovely when there are lots of them hanging from the trees on summer's evenings.

Hanna

Hanna Can anyone help? I had my first go at making caramel sauce tonight and it took quite a few tries. Which means I have several bowels of burnt caramel currently in my sink! A google search suggests there might be a way to salvage these into something edible so does anyone have any reliable tips or recipies? Thanks!

Hi Hannah: I've not had to do anything with burnt caramel sauce before but it occurs to me it would be really good stirred into vanilla ice cream and re-frozen. I bet the contrast would be good... How about using it a base for a pecan or even walnut pie. And I wonder could it be added to with sugar, butter and cream to make a fudge. Actually, if ... See Morethis works, you then cut up the fudge and wrap in small pieces of waxed paper, decorate with colourful cellophane, foil or whatever you can find and bag them up for Christmas presents. People love homemade sweets. Let us know what you finally do... COB

Hilary may want to answer this as well, but in my experience, to make them last you add salt to the dough (not great to eat); as edible biscuits they should last a good week - anyway, you can make more to go tyhrough the whole season... COB
