Manic Productions Our first show of 2010! January 15 - DINOSAUR JR Plus Special Guests @ Daniel Street in Milford. Hope to see you there!

January 1 at 11:34am
Manic Productions

Manic Productions Dinosaur Jr. is an indie rock band formed in Amherst, Massachusetts in 1984. Originally called Dinosaur prior to legal issues that forced the group to change their name, the band disbanded in 1997 until reuniting in 2005. Guitarist J Mascis, bassist Lou Barlow and drummer Murph were the band's founding and current memb...ers; however, Mascis has been the group's sole continual member. Their distinct sound, characterized by high gain, extensive use of feedback and distortion, and frontman J Mascis's melodic guitar solos, were highly influential in the alternative rock movement of the 1990s, which is exemplified by the success of acknowledged fan Kurt Cobain of Nirvana, among others.

Manic Productions The Space and Manic Productions Presents:

Via Audio
Drummer Danny Molad, vocalist/guitarist Jessica Martins, guitarist Tom Deis and bassist David Lizmi discovered each other as musical kindred spirits while at college in Boston back in 2003. Within a year, the band had begun performing locally, and its self-titled EP bec...ame their calling card. In mid 2005 the band began work on a new album, but the album fell victim to hard drive failures and sporadic recording schedules. It was during this time though that Via Audio began generating attention from some highly established indie rock peers. Death Cab For Cutie’s Chris Walla fell in love with the group after stumbling across their music. They were dubbed Walla’s “favorite new band” in Under The Radar.

Pattern is Movement
Following their first three records, endless shows and tours (among them dates with friends St. Vincent, David Bazan, and The Forms), and the transition from five-to-four-to-three-to-two members, Pattern is Movement turned themselves inside out and made the record we‘ve all been waiting for: All Together. Andrew Thiboldeaux and Chris Ward embody the two-man wall of sound; it‘s music that‘s been a long time building, rising out of the ether of left-behind evangelical childhoods (see Jesus Camp), best friendship (kindled as kids listening to The Chronic), and life in Philadelphia.

Apse
Apse was formed in 1999 in Newtown, Connecticut as a three-piece while the members were still in high school. The group made purely instrumental ambient rock until about 2003, when reverberant lead vocals by Bobby became a regular part of the band’s songs. Amidst a shifting lineup, the group moved away from the trappings of “post-rock” territory to write and record its debut full-length album – the tribal, atmospheric Spirit, released in 2006. Extensive touring (exclusively in Europe) and further lineup changes took place over the course of the next two years, during which time the band signed to ATP Recordings, which gave Spirit a wider re-release in 2008. Apse is now made up of Bobby, Michael Gundlach, John Mordecai, Jed Armour and Brandon Collins. 2009’s Climb Up sheds much of the gloom, tribal rhythms and esoteric lyrics of Spirit for more eclectic moods across its 12 tracks, coupled with more concrete lyrics exploring the many sides of relationships between people.

Christmas Island
Christmas Island's music is happy and poppy on the surface, yet there is a dark undercurrent to their brand of lo-fi pop punk. Simultaneously joyous and almost twee while secretly depressed and deeply disturbed. Citing Tronics, Urinals, Television Personalities, the Clean, Versatile Newts and The Fall as influences, Christmas Island are Beach Boys style pop by way of the late 70's-early 80's UK DIY scene. All brought to you by way of sunny southern Californian culture. The results are sublime.

Beach Fossils
Black Pyramid play doom with the rumbling down-tuned tones of stoner metal gods like Sleep, Electric Wizard, and High On Fire, but with the epic arrangements of old school metal and doom acts such as Black Sabbath, Pentagram, and The Obsessed. Add to the sonic brew perfectly executed forays into vintage psych and progressive rock, along with the apocalyptic lyrical ravings about war, the occult, and general alienation, and you've got an accurate picture of what the band is all about. Prepare to be crushed by the weight of the Black Pyramid...

Manic Productions Vetiver
Vetiver is a folk band headed by songwriter Andy Cabic and often joined by Devendra Banhart, cellist Alissa Anderson, and violinist Jim Gaylord. They released their debut album in 2004 on the small indie folk label DiCristina. Since the album’s release Vetiver has toured extensively, opening for and collaboratin...g with Devendra Banhart and Joanna Newsom. Tight Knit is the fourth full-length album from Vetiver—singer/songwriter Andy Cabic’s ever-evolving musical home base. Luminous and surprising, Tight Knit unfolds like a road trip down Highway 1, towards Cabic’s home in San Francisco. It represents a summation of the different styles and directions heard on past Vetiver releases, while it introduces some unexpected twists.

Happy Birthday
Happy Birthday is Kyle Thomas (aka King Tuff. Vocalist/Guitarist of Witch and Feathers), Chris Weisman, and Ruth Garbus. They formed in November 2008 to play one show at the punk-space “Tinderbox”(RIP), in their hometown Brattleboro, Vermont. Kyle needed a band to play his new pop songs because he was too scared to play by himself. They enjoyed playing with eachother so much that they decided to keep doing it.

Manic Productions Cable
Cable emerged in the early nineties right along the early pioneers of “noisecore” like Rorschach and Deadguy. What set Cable apart from most of their contemporaries was their melody––a very jarring, dissonant melody. Somewhere along the line, Cable moved away from the chaotic structures they helped create and star...ted to mix in some dirt and whiskey, a heavier southern rock sludge started to dominate their albums. Due to Cable’s almost bi-annual self-destruction, they have been largely overlooked and surpassed in popularity by the very bands that copied their formulas like Coalesce and Botch. They have also called some very important labels home, including Hydra Head, Doghouse and Translation Loss.
