Alice Nichols Daniels

Alice Nichols Daniels Masterpiece Contemporary has been absolutely phenomenal this year--much better than last (though The Last Enemy was excellent). I am excited to see "Collision" by the fantastic Anthony Horowitz. I know there are a lot of Classic lovers out there and I am certainly one too, but I hope Masterpiece continues with the Contemporary dramas as well.

Joanna Yi

David McInnes

David McInnes A quick question for Masterpiece producers: My UK friends will bewatching Collision in five parts next Mon through Fri on ITV1. It will be on Contemporary Nov 15 and 22 in two parts, 120 min and 90 min. Will we be losing any of it in that editing? I hope not.

Mary Ellen Clogston

Mary Ellen Clogston I was so delighted to see Val McDermuid's excellent mystery on PBS. What a wonderful mystery writer (he) or (she) is. I have the book. I loved "Touch of Frost" "Inspector Morse" and the Swedish one was good too. The list goes on with Agatha Christie et al. I liked "Inspector Lynley" too but found the dialect hard to understand. Looking forward to many more.

I'd like to thank Masterpiece for presenting "A Place Of Execution". I was so excited yesterday when I read in an emal that this was going to be on. It was an excellent book that I read several years ago. I'd carried the characters with me in the back of my head ever since and would sometimes think about them and th...e story. I'd always wanted to see it done up as a movie. Great program choice!! Hats off to Masterpiece!!Read More

Phaedra Masterpiece, I'd like to inquire into the whereabouts of Inspector Lynley and Sergeant Havers. I miss them, and was left in a lot of suspense at the end of the last season.

Yes, Lynley was a very great series. But, in Aug 2007, the BBC announced that the series would be cancelled for good after two more episodes were made. These were the last two shown on Masterpiece. What's crazy is that there was no reason for it. The ratings were pretty high, and both actors wanted to keep going, and all they could say was that... Read More "the channel is looking to refresh its drama output," whatever that means. And the network received petitions from thousands of fans, but they did no good. Oh well.

Tonight's ending of "A Place of Execution" was not exactly like the book's ending.

I didn't think it was either. I planned to go back to the book and check. Neverthless it was very good. Are there actually still towns like that in England? I remember a travelogue showing just such a place on a large estate where everyone worked for the lord.

There's one more out there! It's called Counter Culture Blues. This year's Series II on PBS was actually originally Series 2 and most of Series 3 on ITV, except for one episode, which for some reason was not shown here (yet). Anyone know why?
