I am in agreement with Mr. Jenkins, all the book knowledge in the world won't help, when they come out of high school and have not been taught to balance a checkbook or anything else practical to do with EVERYDAY LIFE........Give them some HELP, we will all BENEFIT.

Mayor A C Wharton With reference to the economy, overwhelmingly the most critical issue facing families is basic employment – finding and keeping a job during a time when cuts and layoffs seem abundant.

To this end and in line with the recent economic forum hosted by President Obama, I am convening the Mayor’s Jobs Forum to facilitate a...n open discussion and exchange of ideas on how we can work together and better leverage our strengths in creating job opportunities locally. This summit will include presentations and perspectives from local stakeholders and is open to the public.

Free and open to the public.

Mayor A C Wharton. May I suggest some of the following?
• Focusing on International trade and mainly exports, which will keep and create jobs locally.
• Finding better ways to attract International Investment Companies which will also create new jobs.

Yeah, see I like this guy. International trade has to be the strings upon which Memphis is stiched together, International firms will bring revenue, but what you really need to be focused on in the next year is JOB CREATION for the youth ages 16-25 in the city. I live in Memphis, just away in Denver right now, and my Memphians need help. We need industries that will bring revenue, and create youth spending power.
