Michelle Benoit

Michelle Benoit Ok I also live in the North End of Providence. I have many neighbors that no longer take their trash bins/recycle bins in, and trash is everywhere. I pick it up as much as possible, but this problem is really out of control. I am now running into packs of rats on Flora and Edward streets. I have called your office, pub...lic works, DEM, even Save The Bay, as the trash is clogging the street drains. Mostly, I have left messages, but no response. Your office said they might ask permission of the litterers to bait, if they find burrowing. I really dont understand why the people that are polluting are not cited, and trash barrels put away. Most societies have ordinances for this sort of thing. I am running out of places to walk my dogs between dodging the ever present speeders on Northup and now the packs of rats and trash. This area is going downhill very quickly. It is really sad that no one seems to care.

I'm sorry to hear that you have neighbors who are not following the established ordinances regarding trash. The City is, in fact, citing violators. I have referred this matter to my Office of Neighborhood Services.

Jenn Sooo. We have our blue recycling bin, our green recycling bin, as well as our Providence garbage bin on the sidewalk - like we are supposed to. I live on a one-way street, so the garbage truck went down the street, only picking up the garbage on the right side of the street (because the machine on the truck is on that ...side) leaving my whole side of the street full of garbage. No one ever came back for our trash. :) They better pick it up tomorrow because I'm sick of my neighborhood looking like, well, trash.

Just saying.

Sorry to hear that. Can you tell me what street that is so that I can have this resolved? Thanks.

thank you for your reply! :)

They actually did come (a day late), but they did end up picking up our trash. We live in the north end, around the Wanskuck area. I only said something because this seems to be a frequent problem.

But again, thanks :)

David N. Cicilline Investment in a strong, modern public transportation system is critical to our efforts to grow our economy and create jobs. Earlier today I proposed a road map for building a 21st-century intermodal system to meet the needs of our workforce, support economic development and protect our environment.

these small roads were not built for the sheer quantities of vehicles you see. Bettering PT for the future will certainly be a help ecologically.
Thanks for your effort!
