Hi, I am currently a senior at Michigan State University but
I reside in Chicago. I first came in contact with RSM McGladrey last summer
when I met Mr. Andrews and Mrs. Moss at the Marriott in Schaumburg, IL. I also
came in contact with Mr. Nickle the recruiting manager in Chicago. I am
currently a senior at MSU and I am o...n schedule to graduate with B.S in accounting
next May. I also plan on continuing here at MSU to complete a fifth year so I
can qualify to sit in for the CPA. I am really interested in an internship in
Audit. I am aware that your audit and assurance services are offered through
McGladrey and Pullen, so I am wondering if I can get in contact with their
recruiter. I have no office preference, so anywhere in the Midwest is
preferable. My ultimate goal is to get a summer audit internship. My GPA is a
3.48/4.0 and I am involved with campus activities. Thanks so much for your
help.

Hi, I reside in Las Vegas, NV and graduated with a 3.10 GPA in May 2008 at UNLV with my B.S. in Accounting. I did an internship as Internal Auditor and is currently working in accounting for more than 2 years now. I am also currently working on my CPA and would really love to work within your Organization. I applied on... the entry-level Audit Associates you have open here in Las Vegas, but received an e-mail saying I do not qualify. Is there anything else you are looking for in a candidate? Or someone I can contact and send my resume to? Thank you in advance.Read More

Thank you for replying to my follow-up. The email you received did not say that you were not qualified, but rather it said that we could not consider you further at this time. A big difference, please let me explain.

We are receiving hundreds of resumes for our entry-level positions currently. These are positions that will start next fall, and you are competing with graduating seniors, as well as against others who have recently graduated. We consider multiple factors in determining who the best candidates are for us to interview. I can't speak specifically to your case, but it is very likely that there were simply others who were more qualified than you were.

There are a large number of candidates who are competing for a limited number of openings with not only our firms, but other firms in the industry as well. As a result, many qualified candidates are being left out because we simply do not have enough positions to consider everyone.... Read More

It is a challenging time right now to compete for even an interview, believe me, I understand that. I can only encourage you keep looking, network with those in the industry who might be able to help you (decision makers, not HR), and soon enough the economy will turn and our industry will be hiring in greater numbers once again.

Hi; this past May, I obtained my B.A. in Accounting from North Carolina Central University. I am also starting my 4th tax season working for H&R Block as a Tax Specialist. For the past couple of years, I’ve applied to various RSM McGladrey job postings for internship and entry level position but have yet to be conside...red for a position. I’m bilingual, Spanish is my first language; I write, read and speak the language fluently. I absolutely love my job at H&R Block, but I’m hoping to gain some experience in public accounting, and I would like to stay within the same family of companies. At this point, I am willing to relocate to Philadelphia, NYC, or the Ft. Lauderdale-Miami area. Will you please send me some information about who I should contact to follow up on my applications or if there’s a particular person who I can send my resume to directly in order to be considered for an entry level position. Thanks.Read More

Gina - Great to hear that things are going well for you at H&R Block. I can see in our system that you have applied for positions in the locations you listed, so no need to send a resume to the recruiters there, they already have a copy of your resume.

We will follow up with you directly with more information.

Dean - I'm afraid that we don't have any accounting positions available in the Phoenix office at the experienced-level currently. I can tell you however that in today's highly competitive environment, having a CPA will only help your chances when an opportunity becomes available.

Elizabeth Hi, I also have my BS in Accounting, sitting for the CPA exam in January. I am looking to get my CPA license first, then obtain my Masters in Accounting and MBA. I have 2+ years in accounting, and 5 years of tax experience. I am looking to work in public accounting in either tax or auditing. Are there any openings in North Carolina? Possibly in Wilmington, Charlotte, or Raleigh area? Thanks

You can visit http://www.rsmmcgladrey.com/Careers/Careers-Search to learn more and apply. If those jobs are not a good fit, then I recommend that you create a Job Agent, which will notify you as soon as a relevant position becomes available.
