Cathy McMorris Rodgers Speaker Pelosi has called a special session of Congress next week to approve a $26 billion bailout of state governments which can't balance their budgets. What do you think? Should I vote "yes" or "no" on the bailout?

John Hood writes on NRO: There are many good reasons to question continued federal bailouts of profligate state and local governments, and to be disappointed (though hardly surprised) that Congress is about to do it again to the tune of $26 billion. All state taxpayers are by definition federal taxp...

    • Tina Burnett Yes. Of course you should vote yes. But you won't. This is a measure to keep REAL people employed. Teachers, fire fighters, police. But you don't care. You only want to keep Republican't legislators employed. You have shown time and time again that you have no interest in real people, only your corporate handlers.

    • Aaron Patrick Renga What happened in California with the Supreme Court ruling on gay marriage is a disgrace. It tells how far we've gone down the road of radical liberalism. The american family is really doomed now.

Cathy McMorris Rodgers I was proud to speak at the Young America's Foundation Student Conference this morning. The video is below. "They call it the American Dream for a reason: Because it is American. It is unique to this land. Of all the countries in the world, it is America – and ONLY America – that embodies the cherished principle th...at every human being has a 'right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness,' and that those rights come from our Creator and not from government."

    • Terry Cochran I agree with everything except the FED should be repealed and the Fair Tax enacted. The Fed has directly contributed to our financial woes since it's inception, and the Fair Tax would get rid of the IRS as we know it... :)

I am glad to see you speaking out for our youth. Unfortunately, there are too many youth not being given a fair share because of their parents choices.. the numbers of homeless youth are staggering!! the statistics are not even close!! in... our Central Valley District alone, out of about 5,000 kids there were almost 800 homeless last year, and that was in only high school! I was saddened that the McKinney Vento act didn't include housing.. you can give them a block of cheese or clothes, but if they are freezing in their car or under a bridge, how much does it really help them? We are housing women with children and are looking into getting licensed for youth, but it seems there are lots of roadblocks and legalisms rather than wanting to help them.. hoping to break through the system somehow, as we also get calls from Idaho for help.. any ideas??See More

Cathy McMorris Rodgers From today's National Review Online: "President Obama is touting the success of his administration’s bailout of the Detroit automakers. But this victory lap is like the woman who boasted to her friend that she made her husband a millionaire. When the friend asked what her husband had been before, she answered, 'a billionaire.'”

Bradley and a few others here should really slow down and take a look at reality and real facts.

Contrary to what Bradley tries to claim Obama is the one who took down GM and fired their CEO, < http://www.suntimes.com/news/politics/obama/150...1561,w-obama-gm-wagoner032909.article > which is far beyond any constitutional or AUTHORITY he has as the US President.

Linda wants to claim conservatives are making jokes and no real contributions to the situation but it's the liberals who are making the jokes and ridiculing everything the conservatives are trying to say or put forward.

There is a huge difference between not having any useful contributions and being blocked and not allowed to present ideas and making a real and significant contribution towards helping to alleviate problems.

Finger pointing isn't going to take care of the problems but we do need to acknowledge and recognize the real obstructionists and move on from there to making things better for all, not just for liberals at everyone else's expense.

The curse the Democrats are strapped with now is the fact they are in power and they're going to be held responsible for their actions while in power.

I keep hearing how they are doing so much good from the left and I'm really not seeing anything getting better in any way. Unless you're counting the country going down the tubes and express lanes separating us from our currency and resources in record time.

I honestly don't think this is what we want or what is best for us.

I see so many here voicing their opinions and screeching how stupid or corrupt the other side is but I don't see any of them getting off their duff's and actually doing anything about it to make things better.

That is what's needed. Actions speak so much louder than words. We need to call to action and correct the course we're on so we don't collide head on with the oncoming train to make the greatest train wreck in history.

How is it so many can just sit back and enjoy the ride while doing nothing to stop the insanity and stop the trains?

Is that all they can do is WATCH the trains as they come together to cause one of the most colossal blunders ever caused by mankind?

We need less mouthing and opinions and more action do actually do something for a change.

Now that is CHANGE we can believe in but it takes the work of all of us together.

Throw both parties out if need be but we need to take our government back and stop throwing our money and resources away on every idiotic scam to come along. Studying the sex habits of the Tsetse fly???? Give me a break.

Let's get back to reality and get the drugs out of our system.

We can do so much better than just giving lip service to things.

Necessity is the mother of invention and we certainly need more inventions because it is NECESSARY to get back on our feet and solid ground.

Come on people. THINK and take ACTION. Not just support groups and surveys to see if anyone really cares enough to fix the problems.

Roll up your sleeves and get a little dirty cleaning up and making things right.

Right now that's the only real advantage other countries have over us. They've had to work hard all along and our kids have gotten lazy and soft and so afraid of real work they will expend more energy avoiding work than it would take to actually just do the job.

Roll up your sleeves and WORK! You'll be amazed at what you can do that you never knew you could and you'll have the pride of doing a good job and working hard to achieve your goals.

Someone said one time about a certain Officer, "We need more young officers like this who can get the job done and not just give us excuses as to why it can't be done."

We can all do much better and we can work as a team. There truly is no "I" in "TEAM".

We can do it. Get rid of the naysayers and we can work together to accomplish what they have refused to do for so long.

    • Richard Moon Revisionism and myopia on some of you posters parts. The only thing govt can do to affect the economy is regulate/tax, it's an issue of being in or out of the way. Take some economic courses and you'll find the truth in that. As for unfunded wars? How has that changed in any reagrad with a new administration, except to increase the "structural" debt" of our federal government? Come back with facts rather than talking points.

Cathy McMorris Rodgers Republican Whip Eric Cantor makes good sense in a blog post today: ""Should the Democrats suffer a defeat, as many polls suggest could happen, the expectation is that the governing philosophy that brought America the stimulus and health-care overhaul will no longer determine policy in Washington for at least the next t...wo years. But is this a safe assumption?...Every incumbent in Congress should have to sign a pledge today assuring voters that they will not use the lame-duck session to pass any major legislation."

Cathy McMorris Rodgers Please watch my remarks at yesterday's Leadership press conference: "President Reagan once summed up the Democrats’ attitude to the economy. He said, 'If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.' Well, the economy has barely moved since the Democrats took power, yet t...hey are still planning the largest tax increase in U.S. history."
