We did it! We finally crossed the finish line of the 24th MDS suffering from exhaustion, blistered feet and hunger. Crossing the desert carrying all our provisions has proved to be one of the hardest and most rewarding challenges we have ever faced.

My son Nicky had pneumococcal meningitis, at 10 months old. He had been sick with an ear/sinus infection for about 3 days prior to, his fever spiking to 103! He also was lethargic and really not himself, oh and if my husband or I went to lay him down he screamed......BLOODY MURDER!!!!!! That whole night we stayed up ta...king turns holding our baby,, the nurse that had returned our calls from the doctors office, actually diagnosed me, "she said he just had the flu and I was being a nervous first time mom" lol, he was my second child in 4 years! The next morning my husband didn't even call the peds, he jumped in the car and brought him to our childrens hospital, (Baystate Medical) When they told him that it was possibly meningitis, he called me and I flew to the hospital! That was the last time my son was ever considered "normal", he has had so many problems since!!!! let me know if I can help!Read More

Ron Glaiser I had meningitis when I was 7 and can still remember the dreamy swirling sensations I experienced. I'm 59 now and thankful for the quick reactions of my GP and parents at the time. Nowadays, I have a really terrible memory but no other known after effects of the disease and nothing to stop me from passing the Mensa test 15 years ago.
