Microchip Technology Inc. Have you used the PIC18 Explorer Board? Write a review!

Working very nicely and I'm relieved to see it turned out nice and bright. I am remembering all over again why I hate Microchip's instruction set architectures and their poorly-integrated, hellishly difficult-to-use development tools. PIC32 is probably better, but that's simply because it's not a PIC. Programming a PIC, especially in C, reminds me of the old saw, "Programming graphics in X is like trying to compute sqrt(pi) in Roman numerals". Wake up Microchip, your 8/16-bit parts and tools are harder to use than some of those semi-documented Chinese 6502 clones! Look at Atmel, TI, in fact almost anybody else, for an example of how it should be done. There's just no comparison between, say, WinAVR + AVR Studio vs. MPLAB IDE + Microchip C18.

Michael Caughey Haven't used PIC Controllers in a few years, but recently had a need to. Looking forward to getting back into them.

Hi...
How to connect & program "dsPICDEM MC1" from "MPLAB IDE" via "MPLAB PM3" ???
Thank's...

Darwin Pintado I'm looking for a PIC16F690 and assembly resources in the web but can't find so far. Any links?

Leslie Ann Ellis The MPLAB IDE makes it easy to create a configuration in C. My first design was a blinky light. My second design was to modify a telnet server to provide specific user functionality. Great!

Lonnie Clinton I love Micro chip they design finest programing code and almost friendly any bas coding my first design was robotic use x16 model it was fine it acully turn out help me get my bas degree and final project

Rich Calverley Good looking Web site - great products - and born in the USA

Microchip Technology Inc. Microchip Technology has expanded its portfolio of operational amplifiers with a new family of high-speed CMOS amplifiers featuring mCal technology that enables extremely low offset and drift. The high-bandwidth (20 MHz) MCP621/2/5 op amps provide low bias and quiescent currents, high output-drive capability and a rail-to-rail output. Check it out: www.microchip.com/opamps

Noah Berhanu any good info/books on dsPIC30F2020 ?

Dustin Silly question, didn't get a chance to really look over your site, but do you guys do eval boards or anything like that? I'm not an EE at heart but I'd love a nice simple platform, something like a BASIC stamp, but running native code.

Andreas Protopapas
quick question: when using microchips products (for commercial use), are there any "strings" attached?
such as proprietory or intelluactual rights fees that need to be payed?
also how about zigbee products?
are there any other (simple) platforms/protocols that do not have "strings" attached?

Ken Thornton-Smith Need a third PWM in 28 DIP? Check out the 16F7X7 which just saved my bacon. Another reason PIC is my favourite brain – the huge range.

but the software that you are using can be achieved easily by PIC C Compiler, i programmed a PIC 16f877a to do the same job but by using LCD lm016
you made a great stuff :D
