You do not need to invest much to have an impact on the most needy people in the world. Wherever you want to assist the poor, this is one way to do it. You can invest as little as $5 or $10 (or less) and earn up to 6% interest. I encourage you to participate in Microplace.

Microplace is a branch of the E-Bay organization. Go to "www.microplace.com" and create an account. Click on "Find Investments" - you can choose the interest rate, the time frame for the investment, the location where your investment will be used, options for the level of poverty, whether you are helping a rural community or women. Not all combinations have investments available - e.g. you will be unlikely to find a three month investment for 6% - but there are many options to choose from.
