So interesting that the opposite of simplicity is not complexity but duplicity! I was fortunate enough to be able to take this class in person at Willow Creek - Mindy is an insightful, delightful teacher!

I didn't like Dr. Slattery's advice to couples who's sexual appetites are different. She said to "just accept it as you would your differing heights".

I too felt that the advice to just accept it was an easy out...there are sometimes other reasons why the other spouses drive is different (are they viewing porn, is it a side-effect of medicine, etc) and NT says we should not withhold ourselves from the other? But what I really wanted to comment is that after hearing her say after "giving" ... Read Moreourselves all day to work, kids, chores, whatever, we just don't want to give anymore. And I realized that's how I've been treating my intimacy w/God. I am a single mom of 2...and many times when I do have a quiet moment and feel the tug of the Holy Spirit to come spend time with Him, I complain and tell Him I'm just so tired...I don't want to pray, I don't want to read, I just want to lay down somewhere and be left alone. I guess I need to work on this somehow. Please pray for me.

Amy- yeah, i had to meds and all kinds of other things too, just didn't have the time/space to share that on here! it was unbelievable. i am finally down to just a hormone med (for a few more months) to help keep my hormones (prolactin level) balanced, and then some good vitamins and other things like routines, time with God, exercise, healthy ... Read Moreeating, etc. but for a while it was rock bottom, and lots of meds, counseling, going to doctors, not sleeping, terrible anxiety...ugh. i never knew what "depression" really felt like on this level. i wanted to die. BUT NOW I LIVE BECAUSE HE LIVES!!
ladies, you may want to try an endocrinologist if you think it's hormonal. that really helped me. he tested my specific hormone levels and found the imbalance and treated it accordingly, verses the other doctors who just treated me for general depression symptoms. but didn't get to the root of the problem...

I exercise, take special mix of vitamins and get enough sun light. These things have really helped, I may not have to go on an antidepressent.

Our pastor was fed something with dog in it on a missions trip, and when he returned, in the middle of explaining it.... he began to bark! It was so funny...

Sort of related to the topic. I wanted to go to a bible study at my church(Catholic) last week. I had never been to a parish that has bible study, it's not a Catholic thing. Therefore, I was really excited to get to know a bit more and also connect with like-minded people. I hit the wall when my husband says to me "Why do you need to go to that... Read More, didn't you go to Catholic school? You should have already learned this". Totally disheartened, I didn't go.
It's really bad when you do want to make those connections but those around you are not supportive. Any advice?

I listen to Midday on my way to work and absolutely love it! There have been SO many times your programs touch my heart and my life!

I listened and loved today's show! I love where I live, but, I hate the distance between us! When my family and I travel we always go south! I think we are going to make a trip to the midwest!

I so appreciated the program today, especially when Janelle spoke about how much our daughters need touch from us. I have noticed how much my 11 yr. old daughter craves my hugs and kisses and now I realize how important that is for her. Once Janelle started talking about this I knew God had spoken to me. Thanks!
