It's supposed to be arriving soon ... most around here are doin' the snow dance for the ski season reason. Pile it up, pile it on ... :)

Middle Fork of the Salmon River If you don't have this book, consider getting it before your next Middle Fork trip. You can study it all winter to plan for next summer! It has detailed maps, rapid and camp descriptions, history and geology information all in a mile-by-mile format. Thanks for the great resource Matt!

have used this book my last two times down and found it invaluable, not to mention it lays down nicely under a strap on the cooler and is very water resistant.

This is an incredibly beautiful river. I wish I was there right now. So serene. I live in Kansas now, so we do not have anything Like this here. I have a lot of memories from years past through that area when I lived in Seattle. Thanks for sharing.

I grow up on the Salmon river when you could land 10 salmon or more pre day. I spent meny aday on the East fork of the salmon at a place call jockos hole (Baker). The largest one I landed on the river was 1962 at johnny smith's hole above Clayton 64 lbs. I was able to make beer money selling fresh row in kerr qt bottle...s cured with 20 mule team borax for $5 a bottle. I was almost drowned under the banks just above Ellis at night with a gas lite, 3# coffee can and a homemade snare. That fish I think was the biggest ever to come up the river. He beat me up pretty good intill I let go to get air. Some of my best meniories are fishing on the Salmon back in the good old days.

I proposed to my wife on a may 2nd lanuch. Just the two of us in a raft from cape horn creek to riggins. We went all the way to sheep the first day just so we could camp by the hot springs. The first morning we woke up to 2 in of snow and 17 degrees inside the tent. It was awesome in that we saw only one other group the entire two weeks. Dagger had a bit more of a pucker to it knowing that if we lost the raft it would be a long miserable walk out.
