So, this is what passes for 'net journalism these days? Conductors as eye-candy and an ad for the current administration at the end. No agenda here, nothing to see, move along.

My "Strib" article comment (below) was yanked. Pathetic yokels! Wish I could afford to live in NYC.

I've attended concerts since the mid 1970s, as a full-season subscriber from 2001 to present. Minnesotans have suffered through fairly dreadful patches, e.g. under the baton of Neville the Moron (or, if you prefer, Metronome). Stan was very good... Read More, Edo was solid if unspectacular, and Eiji ... had his moments. Nothing in recent memory, however, compares to Osmo. We're lucky to have landed one of the top 4 or 5 living conductors, leading a top tier orchestra. His interpretations are intelligent without being overly intellectual, always showing a regard for the composer's intent and an understanding of musical structure. Equally adept at romantic, classical and modernist repertoires. If you haven't been to a show in the past few years or wouldn't consider doing so because you think you don't like classical music, do yourself a favor and stop by. I have a feeling you'll be back!
