Here’s a mix of old mushy grey-day records. Most of them are pretty old and a little bit spooky. It’s about 40 minutes long and I can’t remember all the songs on it. Stream it above or right-click the link. Just right for this kind of afternoon.

Transcending the boundaries of genre, composer-percussionist Lukas Ligeti, son of György Ligeti, has developed a musical style of his own that draws on Downtown New York experimentalism, contemporary classical music, jazz, electronica, and African styles.

Following rave reviews for recent release Afrikan Machinery (released on John Zorn's label Tzadik, one of the Wire's top albums of 2008), Ligeti presents a selection of his compositions for solo electronic marimba which reveal an inspiring new take on the dialogue between African and Western music, achieved through ingenious use of sampling and music technology.

"a new generation of musical Superman - a globally minded, technologically adept, technically sophisticated composer who also happens to be a virtuoso performer and accomplished improviser." LA Times

Minotaur Shock has been making divinely eccentric electronica since the turn of the millennium. Rhythmic but equally intricate, beautiful and moving, it never lacks in the well-honed sense of playfulness that hallmarks the Minotaur Shock sound. Performing solo with drums, electronics and a host of other instruments - this will be very much a ‘live’ performance.

Been in London working with Gold Panda this week. We did a fair bit of improvisation, which is something I’ve never really bothered with. I’ve always thought it was more fun to be involved in the improvising than in the listening/watching. Wh...
